One of my favorite tropes – rich guy hide his true identity to be liked for who he is and not how much money he has.
Kayla Johnston is a teacher at Horizons, a private school for special needs children. Like most private schools, there’s a need for generous donations to help pay for extra staff, equipment and general services. By decree of her boss who wants to lighten the pockets of wealthy businessman, Ryan Langford, the entire staff of Horizons is expected to be at the fundraiser. That is how Kayla finds herself on her way to the Langford Estate on New year’s Eve in the middle of a snowstorm. A moment’s distraction is all it takes for her car to spin out and end up in a ditch. It must be her lucky night because no sooner is she ruing her decision to walk the rest of the distance to the estate, a car pulls up and the handsome driver offers her a ride to his parent’s nearby house, since the road to the estate is impassable.
Ryan Langford is used to people schmoozing up to him for money. When he finds out that his beautiful passenger is a teacher at Horizons his guard goes up. As he listens to Kayla voice her displeasure of the fundraising event and of the wealthy philanthropist at the center of it, he’s instantly intrigued. Not wanting to break the spell too quickly, he decides it’s best if he introduces himself under a different name, so Ryan becomes RJ. As they get to know one another, their initial attraction flares red hot. He’s single, she’s single, they both want each other, so why not enter into a one night, no stings attached indulgence? After their night together, he knows he needs to come clean about his true identity, and he hopes she can forgive his deception.
I enjoyed the story up until the point their night together ended. No woman likes to be lied to, however I don’t think that engaging in a one night stand with a complete stranger should come with the stipulation of complete honesty about names and professions. It’s not like he had an underhanded motive to deceive her. In her mind, Ryan was no better than her sneaky, lying bast*rd of an ex-fiance. For a smart woman, that was a really lousy comparison. Her stubbornness to not listen to Ryan, to not accept his apology and even to go so far as to question the truthfulness of his revelation about having an autistic brother made her very unlikeable very quickly. After one night with Kayla, I couldn’t fathom why Ryan would consider groveling at her feet.
The beginning felt a little rushed because technically, they met in the early evening which only gave them a few hours before ending up on the floor, and the next morning they parted ways. The middle and ending dragged a little too long with Kayla’s refusal to speak to Ryan. Not a bad read, but needed more in the chemistry department. Since this was my first book by this author, I would probably do better with one of her other stories.

I have been reading a lot of adult contemporary romance lately and been loving it. This book was no exception. It was fun, sexy, heartbreaking at times, and left a smile on my face! This was a pretty short book, but packed quite a bit of punch. I was wrapped up in the story almost from the very beginning and the characters were fantastic and commanded my love and attention. Even being a short story, it was able to pull my emotions right out of me!Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
Kayla was a fun character. She is still very bitter over her ex, and she is dreading the New Years Eve party she is forced to go to in order to try to get a donation from some rich jerk as she sees it. She ends up going off the road (totally her fault for not paying attention, especially during a snowstorm) and gets picked up by none other than Ryan Langston. She doesn't know it's him though. She decides to go against her normal behavior and give into a one night stand with this sexy stranger. She is very open and honest with him and isn't afraid of what might happen. If only she knew who he really was.
Ryan was awesome!! He is really smart and caring. He wants to make sure that he donates money to good causes, he isn't just selfish with his money or some jerk who throws it around like nothing. That is why he lies to Kayla in the first place, he doesn't want to be judged for his money. He knows he should tell her the truth, but she makes it very clear what she thinks of "guys like Ryan" and he figures they will have their one snowed in night and that will be it. He never expects to actually start to care for her in their evening of just living in the moment.
This was a great romance with a fantastic plot to go along with it. The characters were amazing and the chemistry they have is sizzling. I became invested in both of them almost right away and as things progress, and then get a bit intense, I could feel my heart constricting. I knew that the lie would come out, and I knew how things would go down, but it still made my me ache a little when it did. This book had a lot of really fun moments, then some great sexy scenes, and of course a sweet romance! This is great book for those looking for a good romance with a little bit of steam that also has a good story that you can get lost in.

For some reason I was irritated when I first started reading this book. I don't know whether it was that Ryan was lying about who he was - or at the very least omitting information, or that Kayla was being so cavalier about a possible one-night stand. However, I did warm up to the book, or really novella, as it is only 92 pages long. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Ryan admits who he is the next morning, and as can be expected, Kayla is furious. She is fearful that she has blown any chance for her school to receive the funds needed and that if her boss finds out she will be in bigger trouble.
I read this book in one sitting and found it mildly entertaining. It was predictable, but sometimes you need to read a book like that - especially if the rest of your world is in the midst of turmoil!

Nah, this book didn't do it for me. It was predictable, sure. But that didn't really bother me. The characters were underdeveloped. And I didn't care for the heroine. She just met this incredible hot guy and cried 3 times in the 10 hours they were together. What a mess. And I didn't feel a connection between the hero and heroine. Sorry, but I can't recommend this book. ##Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

A great little novel!
MELTING THE MILLIONAIRE’S HEART was a great little novel—sweet, funny and with just the right amount of spice for this heartwarming story. Author Linda Morris masterfully weaves together the story of Special Ed teacher Kayla and wealthy entrepreneur Ryan and their problems with trust and honesty on the path to love. Stranded together over a snowy New Years Eve, both characters reach out to one another in what they believe will be one night of passion. But their passionate tryst turns into a craving for more. I won’t give away any more details, but if you’re looking for a light, quick, satisfying read, MELTING THE MILLIONAIRE’S HEART by Linda Morris is your book! Was this review helpful?
