    Good idea...but disappointing book

As a hoops coach and junkie, I couldn't help but order this book. Clearly inspired by the works of John Feinstein (A Season on the Brink, A Season Inside, and A March to Madness), the author takes a similar fly-on-the-wall approach to four outstanding young coaches. Unfortunately, the writing is not nearly as good as Feinstein's. Of course, there's no shame in this, but I also feel that the analysis and observations are also lacking. Eric Ferris is no Feinstien, either, but he did a fantastic job while covering Dick Bennett in another one of these inside look books. I suppose my biggest complaint is that I learned very little from reading this book. It's a must-read for the hoops lover but not for anyone else.

    Ritz Carlton W

I am not a player myself but Mand/Curtis gives a superlative view of the court inside and out! Most impressive accomplishment!

    Fascinating world of NCAA Baskatball

A behind the scenes look at the movers and shakers of several college teams...you need not be an avid fan of the game to love this book...the stories grip you and how Curtis got all this information is amazing...the hirings, firings and recruiting chapters really give the reader the lowdown behind-the-scenes...you'll never look at the game in the same way after reading this book.

    Fantastic college hoops book!

The stories in this book are fascinating. I felt like I was right in the locker room and huddle when decisions were being made. The "behind the scenes" access is incredible. Hoops fans will love this book!

    Wow, exciting as can be!!!!

This book is the best I¿ve read about sports in years. It has a fast pace rhythm that kept me engaged the entire time. I wish more books could shed light on the insights of Coaches as well as this book did. I felt like ¿a fly on the wall¿ in the locker room. Great for any college hoops fan that wants to know what really goes on at half time and in between the games. Mr. Curtis¿ style is detailed yet you never feel like those small things take away from the excitement of the moment. At times, I was giddy about how the hard work paid off for these young coaches. A great read any time!!!!!!
