OUTSTANDING
I've loved Mercury since I first read about him all those books ago, I was intrigued by the idea that he thought his mate dead and I always wondered
at the secret anguish he must go through every time he sees a friend or pride member find their own mate.
I had looked forward to seeing how Lora Leigh gave Mercury a new mate, or the return of his assumed dead mate, I speculated and I dreamed up many scenarios. I can quite confidently say Lora Leigh has delivered my favorite breed book to date.
I loved seeing Mercury and his inner animal, I found the inner lion to be the perfect aspect of his nature, yes it is darker, but I think it was done realistically. I actually looked forward to seeing his inner lion as it is something that makes Mercury utterly unique.
Ria is the perfect blend of tough and feminine. I felt so touched by Mercury's past suffering that I wanted the perfect mate for Mercury and I firmly believe Lora Leigh created such a woman.
This book also answers many questions for me and has me looking at Jonas in a whole new way. For those that are already fans, look forward to one of the best breed books to date. For those not yet a fan of Lora Leigh's breed books, I can't recommend them enough, this series is one that doesn't disappoint. Once you start, you're hooked.8 out of 8 people found this review helpful.

A gripping paranormal suspense eomance
Dr. Elyianna Morrey tells Sanctuary chief Jonas Wyatt that she is worried about lion breed enforcer Mercury Warrant, who has been off the anti feral drug for seven years. Her concerns focus on his attraction to Rio Rodriguez even though the couple has not even met. The scientist has seen the film of a berserker Mercury killing those he blamed for the death of his soulmate and fears a repercussion.------------ Two weeks later Rio arrives at Sanctuary to look over the expenses as the Leo, the father of her boss Dane, donates a lot of money here. Mercury is her bodyguard. She insists she is a human clerk, but he senses much more underneath her dowdy wardrobe. He is right as she a brilliant code breaker looking to see who is betraying Sanctuary and why.-------------- They desire one another, but Rio refuses to act on her wants. Mercury jerks off every night as he thinks of making love to Rio who he senses wants him too. She knows if she lets her guard down he will destroy her heart as she realizes who he is to her, but he has met his soulmate and she is not her. Rio will never settle for being second best besides there is something dangerously wrong in Sanctuary that must be uncovered.------------- The lead couple is an interesting pairing as his soulmate is dead and so he should not feel the way he does, but cannot stop his desire for her. The support cast is strong (a trademark of Lora Leigh) and Sanctuary described just enough for the audience to appreciate it as backdrop. With two great twists, fans of the Breed saga (see TANNER¿S SCHEME, HARMONY¿S WAY, and MEGAN¿S MARK) will relish this strong entry although the climax is weak.---------- Harriet Klausner

This Book is a MUST-HAVE!!!
When you keep re-reading various sections of a book, just to experience the way the words grab you, the way the feelings hit you, then you know the book is a keeper! Mercury (a Lion Breed) has had his inner animal dampened, due to a drug the Council (a very BAD organization) would calm his "feral displacement." Until he meets Gloria "Ria" Rodriguez. Oh, man...do the sparks fly in this book! And a blast from the past comes back to haunt him, since apparently, he, as well as many of the Breeds in his lab, thought he was to be mated to this "blast from the past." Thank goodness he didn't, but it was close there, for a second! The intrigue of the stolen mating heat and extended life plans, along with weakened security measures in the Sanctuary where the Feline Breeds live, give this book power in its plot, angst in the animals, and suspense in the Sanctuary. This book in the Breeds series is DEFINITELY a keeper in my eyes!!!

I'm in LOVE with the LION BREEDS!
"Mercury's War" is truely one of my favorites. Lora Leigh has captured my heart with her "breed" books. Mercury is a favorite character for me personally because he believes he is destined to be alone, without a mate. He's an intense character, powerful and respected by everyone, man and beast. Then hes placed in charge of protection over "Ria" a human woman, and nature takes its course with these two. What I enjoyed most in the begining of this wonderful book, is that we hear from the "beast within" Mercury. The primal desire of the lion... the need to exist is foremost in the mind. I believe Lora Leigh captures that need we all have for self preservation, and allows Mercury's inner lion to bring it forward, and to show the inner strength of all men... The story is compelling, and the characters driven. I couldnt put it down!
Lora Leigh describes her characters with such detail, that I actually "feel" a vibration run through me whenever they "Roar". I believe I know all her characters intimately, and I even worry about them as if they were my best friends. "Mercury's War" is a must read!1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

The Best Yet!
This is absolutely my favorite of the Breeds series. Dawn's Awakening is probably 2nd. The beauty of watching Mercury fall in love without the mating heat was so touching. Don't get me wrong, I loved the rest of it as well, but there is so much emotion wrapped up in these two. And the twist of Ria being a breed as well..... I didn't see it coming. Loved it. I hope she has more in store for some of the other breeds we've met along the way. I'm so glad I happened across this series.

The BEST of them all
I LOVE this book! Could not put it down and spent most of my day off finishing it! I have read all the Breeds in order and this one just took my breathe away. Mercury was HOT; but, sweet, funny, caring and simply heart melting as well! NOT to be missed!

I Love This Book!!
I thought this was a great book. Mercury is one of the characters who I was hoping would have his own book. Lora Leigh writes books that have lots of sex appeal, without skimping on the story line and action! I can't wait for Lion's Heat!

Great Addition to the Breed series
As a fan of the Breeds series, I was not disappointed with Mercury's War. From the time he was in the labs, he thought his mate had been killed...but he learns that some things are not as they seem!!

GREAT STORY
I am a big fan of Lora Leigh's books and especially the Breed books, and Mercury's War is one of my favorites the story line is very interesting, if you know the books then you are aware that she did something a little different, having Mercury's mate die in the labs for him to go on thinking that the one person for him was dead, only to find out that she wasn't his true mate to begin with was a great story line. She also made Mercury different from the other Breeds by giving him more of an animalistic appearance than all the other Breeds what a great idea. Lora Leigh has managed to capture the possiblity that people like that could truly exsist.

Feeline Breed Mercury
Mercury and Ria are destined for each other or are they? Mercury believes he lost his true mate until Ria comes along and makes him wish for the mating heat that will prove him wrong. Mating Heat, Feral Fever and human and feline DNA combine with all too human emotions of betrayal, lust, friendships and so much more, makes this book one of my favorites.

Lora Leigh has a wonderful series in these. Her shapeshifters and their world is great. I love how she ties everyone together making you want to know how the other characters will find their mates.
This series is a must read for anyone that love the paranormal romance. -
Lion Breed Mercury - hidden talents unfolding
Leigh takes this breed tale back into Sanctuary, realm of the Lion Breeds. Seems their strongest, silent and commanding Mercury is having medical issues. New mind controlling drugs are not traceable. Betrayers lurk at every corner within the ranks of the trusted. Outside observer invited in to investigate, Ria, adversary and mate to Mercury. Mercury thought he lost his true mate early in his life, what a surprise that it was not who he thought it to be. All in all a good read, albeit the intensity of writing I come to expect from Leigh was not there. However, I cannot resist any of her books, so I will get them all!
