only read the first chapter and 1/2 but i really like it and i want to add it to my collection.
I know i should not be allowed to give a review with only reading a portion of it but i just liked what i read and the pictures in the graphic novel it was real neat and makes me what to start on that series even tho i am already engrossed in several series, this will be the next one on my list along with shiver. i really like this author so far patricia briggs seems very interesting and fun.... with a good imagination i also looked into some of her other series that i would like to read like the hurog series and raven series. I really like wolves and shapeshifters and this book as both.

Mercy Thompson the Beginning
This is a graphic novel from the Mercy Thompson Series.
I enjoyed seeing how Mercy got to book 1 Moon Called (Mercy Thompson Series #1). The drawing is great, I really liked being able to visualize what everything looked like. The way Mercy looked in the first few pages I didn't like as much as later on. The story is good and the intro to all the characters was interesting. I can't wait to see what's next.
The day any of these books/graphic novels come out I have to get them.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

What do they look like?
I enjoyed this comic. I love Briggs' work. I enjoyed reading and had to re-read this several times. It is worth picking up; but there are some caveats. The story line is bad. There are so many scenes with back(?) scenes in them. You're reading along and then all of a sudden that line stops and somewhere there is a back-in-time sequence and then there is a back-in-time sequence within the first one. That is confusing. It isn't a straight line to the finish.
I liked the overall story. There were some discrepencies. Mercy had lived in her trailer for a few years before Adam "BUILT" his mansion behind her. In this graphic novel, Adam Bought it right after she "RENTED" her trailer.
So, with all of this, why did I like this? Because I could get a visual on how the author saw her characters. Would I purchase a 2nd graphic novel? Depends upon my employment status. It would be very tempting.
Buy or not? That would be your decision. Mine was that I enjoy Patricia Briggs works and want a complete library of them. So, I would buy this again if I hadn't already. But be prepared for discrepancies. If you are in a critical mood, don't get it. If you are in a curious and willing to be entertained mood, go for it. I know this won't give you a definitive answer. But, I liked seeing the characters. I liked seeing Tad hire Mercy. I liked seeing her interview for a teaching position. I liked the story. But, this won't be everyone's favorite. I think that for a first time effort it was great. But, I grew up on comic books and means I once had a collection that would have made me rich if Mom hadn't sold them at her yard sale. <grin>1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

This is a terrific graphic comic with a strong Patricia Briggs' story line
Shapeshifting human walker Mercedes "Mercy" Thompson can shift into a coyote. However, having just graduated from college, Mercy just wants a job. Thus the Oregonian goes for an interview in the nearby Tri-Cities, Washington.
However, minding her business and having her nerves on edge seem not to matter for Mercy. She must deal with vampires, werewolves, and her mom as well as the interviewing horde. Just another normal day for a college grad seeking employment with the worst terrorist being her lecturing mother telling her she is ruining her life. Mercy is not sure whose life mom is referring to in her latest diatribe.
This is a terrific graphic comic with a strong Patricia Briggs' story line that occurs before the Mercy novels take place and with vivid powerful illustrations by Francis Tsai and Amelia Woo. Fans of the saga will relish this new direction that showcases the heroine just after her college graduation while newcomers will find this a wonderful bridge into the world of mercy Thompson.

The newest addition to the Mercy Thompson story will certainly keep you on the edge of your seat. Pages spinning by, hands glued to the book great. This plot leading us off into, the more personal aspects of Mercy to more adventures, excitement, and new relationships. Excitement building, waiting for the new release you'll have to read for yourself.

Not Bad
If you'r an avid graphic novel or manga reader this is not for you. I bought it on a whim becuase I loved the original series but the graphic novel wasn't what I had expected. Neither bad nor good just was.

A nice change
I've never been what one might call a "comic book geek", but Homecoming has converted me. With characters I know, and a world I've grown fond of, Briggs has created a true niche for herself. The art is exquisite, and the dialogue has the trademark sarcasm I've come to expect from Mercy, who herself is as indomitable and stubborn as ever. This epic prequel to the Mercy Thompson universe has a permanent place on my bookshelf, graphic novel or not.

Now I see
This was my first Graphic Novel -- if you don't count the comic books when I was nine.

While it'a a much shorter read than the usual books it was excellent because it gave a visual to the characters. I'm happy to say that they all looked as I had envisioned them!
I don't think I would have liked this as much as I did if I had not already read the other Mercy Thompson books. -
Another Good Mercy Story
Homecoming is a good prequel to the Mercy Thompson series. I fell in love with the series earlier this year and it just gets better and better. This prequel is just a plus to the series. It has good butt kickin' action that a Mercy series lover knows that all the books do. And werewolves; lots of werewolves. All in all, I strongly recommed the graphic novel to any reader and to readers of the series juat to know how Mercy came to be.

Remember that this is a GRAPHIC NOVEL
This is a great story in the Mercy Series. This is a Graphic novel not a standard text novel. but the story takes place before the Moon Called Novel by Patricia Briggs.

If you are a fan of the Mercy series then it is worth it. However if you are not a fan of graphic novels I would not get it. -
GREAT AS THEY COME
Author Patricia Briggs is an amazing writer to say the least; at most she is one of the most talented writers of the paranomral and supernatural that this reader has had the honor of reading in a very long time. Mecy Thompson is a great character; full of spirit, vigor, and keen wit, this is a novel for all adults, both young and old who enjoy a story that grabs you from the very beginning, and by the end leaves you wanting more and more. The storyline is well written, easily followed, and that is just the novel. This graphic addition to the series really captures the spirit of the main characters and gives you insights into their past before the first novel awoke upon the shelves. I can't wait to see what Patricia Briggs comes out with next.

Excellent rendering of an exciting book
While a graphic novel, this book followed the plot of the orginial book with excellent detail and the art/drawings rendered the story a new depth.

gives you an idea of the begining of her series but I thought Mercy lived there before Adam came into the picture?

Ooohhhh...
Since reading the Mercy Thompson series, I had to check out the graphic novel. It's great, everything I expected it to be. A good intro to the characters in her books.

For those of you who haven't read the books and only picked up the graphic novel by chance, read the books. I can't wait to see more graphic novels leading to Moon Called (the first book in the series). -
Comic Book?
From what i can tell just on line this book is a comic book! What hapened to the discriptive Patricia Briggs that my friend and i have come to love?! We read the books she already has out like its religious and now it comes to going to the kids? I mean really, i wanted the book you read not look at the pictures, i was so happy with the Sam, Adam and Zee pictures i got when i read their names or discriptions, this is not something that i would read like i do any other one of her books. I trust her judgement BUT PATRICIA GO BACK BACK TO THE TEXT I LOVE YOUR TEXTS!!!!! -crys-
