    Excellent Book!

Definitely a good book to help you administer a SQL Server Database. The chapters are very detailed and the index in the back is well done for those looking for something specific.

    Exceptional Value

I'm a big fan of William Stanek's Pocket Consultant series. Stanek makes learning about difficult subjects easy by writing clearly and concisely. Plus this is a terrific value as Stanek packs more detail into this 550-page book than books twice the size. The best resource for administration.

Microsoft SQL Server 2005 Administrator┬┐s Pocket Consultant

With a new set of tools, Administering SQL 2005 is quite different to previous versions of SQL Server, this books provides a very useful overview of the new graphical administration programs, as well as detailing many of the commonly used administration stored procedures. The book covers all aspects of administering SQL Server 2005 and will provide a handy reference to anyone whose function it is to maintain a SQL 2005 system. I found the book very readable and I especially like the side notes, which come in Note, Tip, Caution, Real World and Best Practice flavours. These give very useful practical information, which will help you avoid some the common problems that get posted to online newsgroups. Martin Bell (MVP) 28/1/2006
