OMG where do I start?! I loved the first book, Mid Life Love and wasn't sure if this one could be any better but it was!! This book had me excited, sad, heartbroken, frustrated, angry and everything else in between. At one point, well actually a few points, I almost ripped my copy in half and threw it across the room, seriously, I can't tell you how close I was to actually doing that to my book. The saving grace is that my copy is signed by the author, so I took a few breaths to try and calm myself down before continuing to read and just when I think I've felt all the emotions I'm going to feel while reading this book I find myself literally laughing out loud because of something Jonathan says while right before that I'm wanting to reach into the book and strangle someone.
If you want to go on a roller coaster ride of emotions this is definitely the book to read and one I will be re-reading many times over! I will definitely be suggesting this book and Mid Life Love to everyone I can and look forward to what Whitney has in store for us in the future!

Poor characters, bad storyline

I pride myself of finishing every book, no matter how boring they are. This one I had to put down 1/3 in for a few days because I could not put up with it any more. I then took it up again and finished it even if it killed me. Here is the thing.... I bought the two books in the series based on the glowing reviews. The first one started great and then deflated due to the annoying female character. She may be 40, but she behaves like an immature bubble head, that put the poor guy through a lot of crap. Why he fell for her is beyond me. He was 11 years younger, but he was the mature one. He also saved the first book. Now, in the second book she is still the same abnoxious brat but he turns into this obsesively, possessive character with little appeal. Add to that the mediocre story line, with the return of her ex-husband turned psycho and her disregard for any safety measures that her fiance keeps asking her to take. So in the end you get a poorly crafted story, with annoying, unrelatable characters and scenes. A waste of money and time.

    3.5 out of 5 stars

I enjoyed this story, it was a great read. There was a nice mix of drama, chemistry, and heat!

Jonathon is just as sexy, sweet, and romantic as ever even though he still has his alpha male tendencies. I liked Claire in this story, she really grew on me from the first book though she still frustrated me a little. She was still just as determined but she seemed stronger and more confident but there were times that I wish she would have spoken up for herself more. I enjoyed Claire and Jonathon’s conversations when they’re being playful, those always made me smile. There were some emotional times mixed in also. I loved the half chapters covering their youth, it really helped piece together why Jonathan is the way he is, I thought it was touching.

I really liked the drama that surrounded Claire’s ex husband, he was a piece of work. That part of the story had me on edge and I was anxious for the conclusion. I thought it was great how Claire handled herself with him during their exchanges. As far as the other characters I enjoyed Claire's daughters immensely with their twin-ness, I found them entertaining. I also liked that the relationship with Jonathon's mother was revisited and I was happy with the outcome. I am also really excited that Haley and Corey were touched upon and love where that is headed, can’t wait to read more about them.

This was a really good book with lots of hotness and sexy times involved - some very vivid scenes. This book seemed fast paced to me and there were a few times I felt it jump from one thing to another. It wrapped up with a lingering question that made me laugh (it was very them with their playfulness) and made me wonder if we’d see more of Claire and Jonathon in the future. Great ending as well! It definitely made me happy, I liked how everything played out.

ARC received in exchange for an honest review.

    Heat Rating: HOT!

**This is book #2 in the Mid Life Love series and you REALLY need to read book #1 to fully enjoy Mid Life Love: At Last.  Here is my 4.5 star review of book #1 Mid Life Love**

Mid Life Love: At Last  gave me the Jonathan that I have been missing since I finished Mid Life Love!  Man, he is a great book boyfriend; sexy, dominant and always gets his way.  I love that he sticks to his promises and never sways in his love for Claire.

Whitney G. can write one hell of a sexy story!  Mid Life Love: At Last really took the heat up a notch and left my cheeks pink throughout the book.  What is great about this series is that you get an emotional love story but you also get a slap of reality in the mix of your happily ever-after fairytale.  Nothing is ever perfect and life somehow always tries to trip you up. Whitney G., does a great job giving the reader a taste of what Claire and Jonathan are like after they have been together a year, I love getting to re-visit with characters and this didn't disappoint.

Jonathan and Claire are preparing for their wedding and with that comes all kinds of drama.  I loved Jonathan, he stayed exactly like I wanted him to stay.  Claire, I wanted to slap around a bit.  The drama in this book was a bit over the top in places and Claire seemed to really change from book one.  However, in Claire's defense, she wanted everything to be perfect so their marriage could start on the right foot (I just wish she would have eased up on the gimme gimme gimme aspect of the "perfect wedding").

Mid Life Love: At Last gave me the ending that I wanted to see in this series.  I am left completely happy and will admit to tearing up in points.  Even through all the crazy ups and downs I hung on with a smile on my face.  Whitney G. never disappoints and if you are looking for a sexy story with a lot of heart this series is perfect for you!

Go 1-click Mid Life Love: At Last and get swept off your feet by Jonathan!
