LOVING THE SERIES!!!!!
I totally disagree with the snob that wrote the first review saying that it was horrid. It seems to me that he or she cannot tell between a good book and something a first grader had written.
The Morganville Vampires series is the new Twilight with a severe twist. Its edgy and leaves you wanting to sink your teeth into more. The charecters are formed beautifully and actually wishing that they were real so you could watch them. If they do decide to make this into a movie this would be one to actually do justice to. Not like Twilight or Harry Potter. But to actually follow the story line and not skip around. Not to put Dakota fannon or the guy formally named as edward. But actually people and not the ones we ALREADY see on tv.
My bestes friend told me that this was better than Twilight and that this writer was on the same pattern as J. R. Ward and she was right! Theres Action, emotion, love, a lot of hate lol and this is one series that i would degfinately recomend to others. READ THIS SERIES and dont be like the first boob and just read the first three chapters. Read the entire book before you flame the book and the writer. Lovable, incredible, superb!
This series of books has no other title than, "Best series i've read" i totally agree with the second review....this should be made into a movie that follows the entire book...not like the first twilight movie....have yet to see the second...but i love the characters, i feel like im IN the book...i read a lot, and i only go back to read the really good ones i enjoy, and there aren't that many...i've gone back and re-read the first three books...i haven't gotten ahold of the fourth and so on....if they're on my list, and believe me- everyone at school sees me with a new book every day, then they're a good series...read them!

Wow, this is a great book series!
Wow. That's all I can say. I've read the first two books and I'm on the 3rd one now and it's so so so so good! I actually feel like I'm in the story. Completly fantastic:)

The 3rd in the series that has Claire finding out more than she should.
Here we have Claire Protected, working for Amelie and is to secretly work with a vampire name Myrnin. All the while Shane has trouble getting used to Michael and what he has become. Not to mention that there been murders happening. The ending was definitely...awkward. Have to say that Myrnin is now one of my favorite characters, along with Sam and Eve. The series is pretty good and recommend it. I wonder what will happen next. Well onto book 4 then.

Hooked...
Awesome characters, well written, romantic, suspenseful and all together a fantastic series! Make sure you pick up all of the books at once because they always come to an end in the middle of some major catastrophe, leaving you desperate to start on the next book to find out the conclusion. These are all really quick and entertaining reads; one of my favorite series besides Twilight.

Book 3 Does Not Fail this Collection
Midnight Alley is a fast paced, thrilling read. In Morganville things have gone from bad to worse and the waters seem to be calming....or are they. This book is filled with more twists and turns that have now been expected by Rachel Caine readers. As a reader you are thrown into the emotion felt by the characters the fear of an unknown killer and terror of an unwanted release from jail. The new relationships forming make you dive from a human to someone with compassion for this species of vampires....at times. The relationship that Claire is forced to form with Myrnin is life and death for the vampire and human world. As Claire is trusted with the secrets of the Vampire world she is drawn into servitude to her Protector and slowly becomes grateful for all that entails. A great continuation in the collection.

Exciting as ever
In the previous book, sixteen-year-old college freshman Claire Danvers swore allegiance to Amelie, the town Founder of Morganville, Texas. Claire's boyfriend Shane, her best friend Eve, and her friend/landlord Michael don't know about this deal, but she's certain they won't be happy about it, since none of them trust vampires-not even Michael, who is a vampire. But her new servanthood is just part of Claire's busy life. The Fang Report, an underground anti-vampire publication (which has astonishingly avoided being shut down by the town vampire leadership that monitors phone calls, email, etc) is now targeting Michael as the weakest new member of the undead. Monica the murderous rich girl is being ultra-nice to Claire. Police find a body in the garbage cans outside of the Glass House and Eve's mean brother Jason is on the loose. It's safe to say that Morganville book three is as chock-full of action and suspense as anything we've seen so far.
One of the most interesting subplots is Claire's scholarly apprenticeship. Amelie wants her to study under the vampire Myrnin, a manic-depressive fellow who wants her to learn philosophy and alchemy so she can work with him on some bigger project involving the fate of all vampires. Myrnin has mood swings and seems mentally unstable, which isn't good news for Claire, a tiny human who has to work in close quarters with him. He has fits of turning savage, but Claire grows to have sympathy for him and see him as a brilliant man who's losing his mind along with his last shreds of humanity. Her studies with him and her new supplemental courses are actually fun and invigorating, and give her a chance to use her tremendous brainpower, but Myrnin is also incredibly demanding and gives her red crystals, a drug that helps her concentrate and improves her reaction time. It's an interesting way to get an actual drug addiction subplot going, because Claire's not at all the type to try recreational drugs, but if she's given a substance that apparently helps her study better, she'll take it without a second thought.
Shane and Claire are a mostly-happy couple is this book, but I still get the feeling that Claire might end up with Michael. Shane is a great defender of the innocent, and he's got a solid moral center except when it comes to doling out violent payback, but he seems so willing to write people off forever that his helpful ability to make snap decisions could easily become a major flaw before long. Michael, on the other hand, is the responsible one, the one everybody turns to first in a crisis. In fact, the storyline has to keep going out of its way to eliminate him from the pool of people available to help out during the latest traumatic event, because if he's there, he tends to solve problems fairly quickly, especially now that he has some supernatural power. We'll see where all this leads. Whatever happens, all the characters are still three-dimensional and acting according to their established personality traits.
One of the major questions raised in this volume is whether or not the vampire race should be saved.
If they're dying out, should Claire just let them die, or maybe even try to speed up their inevitable end? The answer seems to be "no". Even though most of them are antagonistic at the very least, it's hard to want them wiped off the face of the earth because there seems to be hope for some of them, like Sam, not to mention Michael.1 out of 1 people found this review helpful.

Midnight Alley
Great series. Characters are well developed, plot and pacing are excellent. Highly recommended for adults as well as teens. Much better than Stephanie Meyers Twilight series. If you are going to read just one, this is the best.

Morganville Vampire Series
I like to read - constantly. I particularly enjoy Historical Fiction, but a "good read" is a "good read"!
Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
So what is a "good read"? Simple - A "good read" is fun, simply put! It pulls you into the story and you become involved with the characters, their emotions, strengths and weaknesses. You worry about them. You cheer them. You get angry at them. A "good read" occupies your mind. A "good read" is a friend. You hate to see a really "good read" end. You wonder what would happen if thus and such had happened, or if only this of that had been known.
There is some meaning to the term Escape Reading, right?
The Morganville Vampire books caught my interest (by accident)and made me a fan. I have wanted to slap all the characters several times...or hug them when they hurt.
The series is filled with humans faced with moral and physical delemas which they confront with humor and courage. They are filled with frailties, so struggling is a part of their world.
The vampires. These magical/mythical creatures were all once humans, so they too face identical challenges as they try to survive on human blood and make humans into friends at the same time.
I love them all!
