The Missing Case

Finally the story about how Dr. Mira was put in a cage, it drove me crazy thinking that I had missed a storyline as I have read all of the IN DEATH series. This was a very quick read, it is only 90 pages, and takes place after Holiday In Death. Still has all the action and smart alek banter that I enjoy in this series plus a small look back at a case that ended before Roarke. A good read and great of Mrs. Roberts/J.D. Robb to tie up a loose end.

Buyer Beware - It's A Short Story

Not only is this a short story, it is poorly written. It looks like the author couldn't develop the plot for a novel and just decided to publish a truncated version.

    Not worth the cost

I spent $3.00 on this 84 page book. 7 pages of garbage befre story started. Story was boring with little to no typical Robb flare or characters. Hate to say it but this is last one I will buy of hers.

It was ok but the ending was very short and not very exciting.

It was ok but the ending was very short and not very exciting. I expected more but maybe the ending is short because this is a short story.

    more from this reviewer

    Just OK

I am not really familier with the author, thought I would give this book a try. Yes, it is short, and no, its not a keep the light on, can't put it down story. Maybe because it was so short, it was hard to get into, and it ended too quickly. I will, however, try another one of J.D. Robbs books, and see if they get any better. This short story was just a tease...

Three stars for a short, fast read. There are some great stories

Three stars for a short, fast read.
There are some great stories in this series. This isn't one of them. If you follow the series, as I do, you will want to read this. If you don't, read on. I began the "in Death" series because it was presented as a SF mystery. Except for a few details--off planet penal colonies, cars with vertical take off and flight capabilities, and auto-chefs-, the SF is just atmosphere. The mystery draws me back but in this story one of the first things you learn is who did it and keeps doing it. The tale is frequently interrupted for sex scenes which stop the story. The characters are very likable but I don't know if that would come through if this were the first of the series I had read. I probably would not recommend this as a new reader, so I won't urge it on you now. Take the criticisms by other reviews to heart.

What i've read so far is just okay. I had heard J. D. Robb was a good author; but when an author uses the name of Jesus as a curse word, I don't care to read any more of that book. Needless to say, I won't be buying any more books by this author.
