The streets were relatively serene at midnight in the quaint and petite city of Embers. No one really knew of this wonderous place; the stellar asteroids that you barely got a glimpse of before they departed the view, the water slick streets that wish upon being filled full like a river, and the envious moon that takes the light of the sun god and mirrors it as its own creation. There is not and will never be a city quite like this particular diamond in the ruff.
All of the extraordinary qualities that pertain to this city make it a fortune for people like (insert name here) to choose to build a life in. As a person of median quality in society, (name) personifies the characteristics of the figurative part of the strength in Embers. She is the endurance and boldness with her more dominant traits; evermore, as with all things, her weaker, more frail, traits exist in nonetheless but her emotions.

A Great Wolfe Mystery, A Great Narration

This review is for the audio (CD) version of Might As Well Be Dead. Having read the novel some years ago and found it to be a great Nero Wolfe mystery, I can now give Michael Prichard's narration a serious thumbs up. The classic mystey account with all of Rex Stout's great characters is read clearly, and delivered in fine form, unabridged. A very enjoyable listen.
