A good prep for natural childbirth
I loved reading this book. I'm not really the 'hypnobirthing' type, but I do think the relaxation techniques in this book are very useful, not only in childbirth, but in other areas of life as well. I found it to be very inspiring and it helped me to expand on my options for nonmedicinal pain control for labor.

Outdated and Biased
There is only about 30% of this book I found useful. I'll take with me all the information on how the mind and body work together with labor and how you can use that to deal with the pain. Some information is ancient(this book is almost two decades old) with some references being almost comically outdated. The author is fairly degrading to the entire medical community and towards the use of medications during labor. I think the author should do a complete rewrite and update his ideas to reflect today's modernization. I am not completely sold on a natural childbirth, but was curious to find ways to work with pain other than with drugs. I would not recommend this book to anyone who is the same state of mind. It is far too outdated, and you must be extremely openminded to take anything out of it at all.
