Modern
I mainly bought this book with my two sons in mind. They both loved it. It is a book for modern sports and luxury car lovers young and old. Top rated cars only.

Great read, very informative A++++
I was excited to read this book when I ordered it, and throughout the entire experience reading it never let me down. I was glad I ordered it from page 1! It is very informative but yet interesting at the same time, I highly recommend this book to anyone that enjoys sports cars or the automotive culture. It is very well laid out and reads smoothly, but at the same time sparks interest and intrigue with it's colorful wording. This book also makes a great conversation piece, as I brought it to my book club and we had a very intriguing chat about the various topics. You know, one of those conversations that keeps unfolding and getting better. It brings about debate and is a must for any book club. This book can spark interest in all readers, this one is a MUST read. You won't be able to put it down! Modern Sports Cars by Tom LaPointe is one of the best assembled sports car books of our time. Myself and my book club thoroughly enjoyed the read! A++++

Abysmal
I had the misfortune to receive this as a Christmas present. I assume it was given as either a joke or was a "must find something quick" type of gift.

Whatever the reason, this book is alleged to present and profile the current crop of high performance sports and supercars. Unfortunately, it comes off as a pathetic and amateurishly written attempt to lure in a prepubescent male audience. I can't imagine how it could possibly appeal to anyone else.
Getting off to an embarrassing start, things go nowhere but downhill. First up is the Alfa Romeo 8C Spider, however the editors apparently couldn't find any photos of said auto (funny, but Google was able to supply a vast number) and all the pictures are of a completely different Alfa. The photo captions are hilariously inaccurate to boot, as is the case throughout the book.
Glaring mistakes abound. For instance, I wasn't aware that the original Datsun 240Z came as standard with a "gutsy 2.4 liter inline FOUR cylinder engine". I'd always thought it had six cylinders...
Gushingly inaccurate descriptions are the norm here and often the featured car is breathlessly described as easily trouncing its competition. How is that possible when many of them compete with one another?
Unintentionally funny copy can be found wherever one looks including such groaners as "When you're travelling this fast, you need other road users to notice you." I assume that would include the Carabinieri as well?
Typical of the genre, it's as timely as yesterday's news, and not even worth the $9.98 asking price. The pulp used to produce this abomination could have been put to better use as bath tissue. I trust both will eventually find themselves in a similar location.
