The story kept me interested throughout the novel. I had a difficult time putting it aside. When I came to the end of the novel, I was sad because I wanted to read more of what eventually happened with David and Michal's relationship. I would read other books by this author. Also, I would recommend this novel for book club discussions. I think it would be interesting to hear other's feedback about the characters and the story line. It would make for a great discussion.

Recommended Highly!

A fictionalized account of the first English traders to make it into Northern India. The timeline is compressed and it has just one main character, but it is still a great story full of intrique.

    Boring

It became too drawn out with boring references. Too much detail that dreww away from the real theme.

    Great story - informative

This is a great story that also gives a glimpse into Indian life before many European infuluences. Several typos that are distracting.

Intrigue, suspense, history & travel all rolled up in one. I couldn't put it down!

It was so entertaining that I didn't realize I was learning!

This novel was a wonderful introduction to a different culture and society and the little things that we take for granted. I love historical fiction and this one truly was worth reading. At times you forget that you are reading of another period. It made me want to travel. This is a truly talented author... With very few words, I was able to envision the scenes as if I were there.
