    Buy This Book! Right now!

This book was in the employee recommended section of my local bn store. I picked it up on a whim for something to read at work. The only reason why I didn't give it five stars, is because if you don't know any Spanish, there are some words you may have to look up. From cover to cover this book is amazing. It's captivating, and you can really see the drama unfolding. Every chapter is filled with action, but it's never too "In your face".

In reading this book you watch the characters grow and develop, and you see all their changes over just a few days. I couldn't put it down! The plot moves quickly, and some twists may take a bit to figure out.

If you liked the movie "Snatch", you will love this book. It's all about thinking you have something or someone figured out, and then it all changes and falls apart. A really great read though!

    This book ROCKS!

I laughed out loud at these goofy criminal types. Cool twisted plot featuring cool twisted people doing cool twisted things! Mark Haskell Smith takes the time to show you the good side of what could seem like some bad people (the cops AND the gangsters, depending on which side you think is bad!) Even the bad things that happen in this ever-more winding tale are never through any "evil doers'" actions, but instead through bizarre circumstances and people just doing their best to get by in this crazy place we call L.A. A fun, funny tale with an optimistic, people-loving take on gangster life...oh, and did we mention all the great sex?

    smart, dark, comical, sexy

Just sorry this one came to an end...The hero is a n'er do well underachiever who meets up w/ the Mexican mob. Smith creates a benevolent crime boss, affection for hardened hit-men, steamy sex scenes, love, lust and more...a tribute to LA that will evoke a tear from even the most jaded Angeleno. Can't wait for Mark Haskell Smith's next read
