This is a titillating novel about the bizarro characters that met at a villa and decided to have a writing contest. Percy Shelley, Lord Byron and his doctor (who set the larger stage for vampire books), Mary Shelley's half-sister/mother to Byron's daughter, and of course Mary Shelley herself each led troubled lives with three of the five dying young. The story is told in a sympathetic voice for the young Mary Shelley who suffers from a lost mother, an arrogant yet dependent father, and the early losses of children, friends, and her husband before she reaches 30 years old. At times the story sidetracks a bit with unusual sexual tales, but overall it's an engaging read for anyone. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
