Do not watch the movie adapation!!!

The movie itself was ground breaking, but the book is incredible.
The ability of the author to get this book published in 1938 is amazing.
She challenges us to see what Germany was like at that part of its history. She allows us to see Nazis as they were growing into their own. The love story is truly wonderful. Her description of first loves is truly heart-breaking.
