Growing up Frisby

I grew up with Mrs. Frisby and think children of all ages will love her as well. I think all children boy and girl alike can relate to her and enjoy the story. Definitely a must have for all children.

GREAT BOOK

I read this book in school and I loved it. I think that it was sad, happy, and an adventure. I recommend this book to every one from the ages of nine to ninety. I think that it not hard to read but it is not easy for example every now are then it is a little challenging and hard to follow. But I think the at times it is hard to follow. This book is about a mouse named Mrs. Fribsy and she has a few children and one of then is her son named Timothy and he is terrible sick and cannot get out of bed. The problem lies there it is almost moving day and a tracker will come and plow up the field. So Mrs. Fribsy will have to turn to the rats of NIMH for help. If you like this book you may also want to try read The Chronicles of Narnia and Charlottes Web. I hope this review was helpful and I hope you enjoy reading Mrs. Fribsy and the Rats of NIMH.

One of the best pieces of literature I have ever read

My sister has a pet rat that she adores, and to surprise her, I wanted to find a book that portrayed rats as the inteligent creatures that they are. A friend recommended this book to me, and I found the book on tape at the library. It was so fascinating! My entire family loved it! I was impressed at how the author was able to answer every single question that I had (such as how could the rats find tools small enough to use, small technical stuff that most authors fail to explain) The story was incredibly intricate, but never failed to be interesting and slightly humorous. I recommend this book to anyone.

Outstanding

This book is wonderful. I love it. It is very entertaining and shows a clear point of view from a mouse. My favorite part was when one of the rats tell Mrs. Frisby about how Johnathan Frisby helped the rats. It answers my questions about Johnathan Frisby. It is very sad that he died. This book was so good I could not put it down.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH is a Book worth reading it has excitement suspense and surprises around every corner. Mrs. Frisby¿s is a widow with four children she must move soon or the farmer will plow up her winter home. But her youngest son Timothy falls ill and Mr. Ages a friend of the family and a doctor gives him some medicine but for it to work he must not be sick for three weeks. And the farmer plows in just three days! Out of desperation she seeks some advice and what she gets she doesn¿t like. She has to meet the rats under the rosebush. How will she solve this solution? Only one way to figure it out. READ IT!

Good morals for kids to learn

This book teaches kids good morals such as helping those in need and repaying those who helped you while you were in need. It's done using animals instead of people so that a kid can relate to it in a fun way.

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM is the bestselling fiction book

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIHM is the bestselling fiction book written by Robert O’Brien that entails one of the most thrilling and suspenseful stories of all time. This story takes the reader on the journey of the widowed mouse named Mrs. Frisby. Mrs. Frisby and her four children are living in their winter home, a cinder block in the garden of the farmer named Mr. Fitzgibbons. Unfortunately, the family must make their journey back to their summer home or face death from Mr. Fitzgibbon’s plow. However, their journey will be more difficult than was originally anticipated. Mrs. Frisbys youngest son, Timothy, has come down with a bad case of phenomena and is unable to make that journey back to their summer home safely. Unwilling to leave her prized son for dead Mrs. Frisby decides to consult with the wise old owl of the forest with the hope that he will come up with a plan to save her family. The owl believes that the only way to save Timothy would be to move Mrs. Frisby’s home closer to a rock where it will be untouched by the plow. However, the owl is unable to offer his personal assistance in the moving of the home and instead refers Mrs. Frisby to seek assistance from the Rats. This is an excellent book that I believe a large audience can relate to. Many people feel as though they are underdogs, a mouse, and it is always reassuring to know that there is always a kind soul willing to go out of their way, the rats, in order to help others in need. I recommend that anyone looking for an enjoyable reed pick this book up and read it. It won’t leave you disappointed.

Excellent read

My son is an advanced reader for his age - 9 - but most of the middle school books talk about subjects he's not interested in or allowed to read about - This book is for a higher reader with no explicit, violent subjects. My son loved it!

Recommended

Mrs. Frisby and the rats of NIMH is a good book. I enjoyed reading the book, although it starts slow in the beginning, but the book is well written and therefore it's easy to follow what's going on. The book is very detailed, which makes it seem very real; you can actually picture the scenes in your head. I recommend reading this book, although it may be hard to understand for children in the lower grade levels. The book teaches about how you can reach out for help when you need it.

Loved the Book and the Movie too

I picked this book up from the store because I really, really enjoyed the movie, "The Secret of NIMH". When I started reading it, I was expecting it to be very much like the movie, but as I read, I saw there were many differences between the two. But I found that even though the movie changed things-which usually annoys me to no end-I couldn't decide which version I prefered. They both are incredible stories with animal heroes, wonderful characters, and an interesting world.
The book though, went into much more detail about the history of rats from NIMH, which is what I wanted from the book. It's quite believable too, even if the characters are talking animals.
I would totally recommend this book (and the movie) to anyone, not just children, who enjoys good stories with lovable characters.

Great Book!

One day, while browsing in the children's section of my local book store, I came across Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. I was a huge fan of the movie The Secret of NIMH as a kid. This was one of those movies that I watched over and over again, driving my parents crazy. I bought this book hoping that my children would love the story as much as I did.
The verdict: We all loved this book. This was my first time reading it as well. I loved the story. Robert O'Brien wrote a fantastic story full of drama. The story line is very intriguing. He takes you on a journey through the eyes of Mrs. Frisby and Nicodemus. Mrs. Frisby's drive to save her son would warm anybody's heart. The story if full of strange and wonderful characters that are very lovable and endearing. We each had our favorite characters that we were cheering for the entire story. My kids also loved the pictures in the book. There weren't a lot but every chapter had at least one scene sketch. I had many hours of enjoyment reading this book to my kids. They enjoyed it as well. So from the adult and from the kids point of view this is definitely a winner.

A kids favorite

My daughters remember reading this in elementary school and wanted to get another copy when they got rats for pets. It is a wonderful story with lessons on courage and trusting yourself. I highly recommend it!

Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH, A Fantasic Read

There are many positives and negatives to the book Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH. A positive is the characters. They are well thought out, and each one has their own story. A negative about them is that I wish I knew that whole story, and I could learn more about each one. Another negative is the beginning. Personally, I thought it was slow and didn't have enough action, but if you trudge on, wonders will come. The rest of the plot includes suspense, action, and triumph, a terrific combination. Other positive comments regarding the plot was that it was extremely detailed in both stories, Nicodemus and Mrs. Frisbys', enough that they could almost be two separate books. Lastly, I have to critique the death of Mr. Frisby before this story. I think the author should have included a prologue, because it is hard for non-readers to understand the story without you giving them a summary of what happened before the book.
I found the writing style of the author, Robert C. O'Brien, very intriguing. The way he wrote this story was very unique, and his writing flowed easily. He wrote in the first person, which was the style that definitely suited the story. Every scene was so descriptive; I had pictures in my head of what was happening as it occurred, like as the rats were escaping through the air vent from NIMH. Anyways, I would definitely read another book by him, if he writes as well as he does in this story in all of his novels.
I give this book two thumbs- up. When asked if I would recommend it to other people, I would reply, without a doubt, yes. Mrs. Frisby and the Rats of NIMH was an interesting, detailed, great read about a subject that is rarely written about. The plot will capture your attention and you will be pulled into the story. Most of all, I find it a believable account of an extraordinary adventure seen through the eyes of a rodent. If you read this story and enjoy it, I would also recommend similar novels like Rosco and the Rats of NIMH, Secret of NIMH, and R-T, Margaret, and the Rats of NIMH, all stories written or co-written by the author himself, or the author's daughter. Other stories I have enjoyed that you might like are: The Mysterious Benedict Society, From The Mixed Up Files of Mrs. Basil E. Frankwheiler, and The Tale of Despereaux, which are all stories that have the Caldecott Honor, are about adventure, or are seen in the eyes of a mouse. Good luck reading!

The book I read was Mrs.b Frisby and the rats of nimh. It was great! Her youngest son Timomthy has pneumonia. This book has a question? Will her son younest son Timothy, live or die? Will she manage to help her son timothy get well or will he die first. Find bout at the end of the Mrs. Frisby and the rats of nimh.

Great Book

This book is amazing. My friends and I had to read it for school and it is the best book we've read all year. We begged our teacher to let us read it when reading time came.
