This book really rocks!!! I would definitely give this a five because it teaches you to follow your dreams!! The girl in this book¿s dream was to have her very own horse to ride. I liked the beginning when her dad went to the stable. He had to talk to Mrs. Mack the girl that works there and she got the horse. She named her horse Penney. I almost cried when I read that Penny got the viral disease. If you like horses I definitely recommend this book! I would also, recommend this book for people who don¿t like horses!!! A great story about a girl who sticks with her dreams
I think Mrs.Mack is a fantastic story! At the begining Patricia is not so sure that she wants to ride horses because her dad takes her to a stable in Dogpatch, the rundown part of town. But once she meets a horse named Penny 'the perfect horse' she doesn't think that anymore. In fact she doesn't even want to leave the stable. But later in the story a tragedy strikes. Her favorite horse Penny is very sick. Luckily when old Mr.Hap comes to the rescue everything turns out okay. I think this is a great story because it teaches you to never give up your dreams. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. This is a really great boook.
In this book Polacco tells about how she has a desire to ride horses. I really like how she tells about her love with a horse named Penny. This book gets sad at the end when Penny gets a viral infection. Pat and other people in the story help save Penny¿s life. Through good times and the bad times, this is really touching. I almost cried reading the end of the book. This book has a lot of great, beautiful pictures of horses. Patricia Polacco uses great words that described how she felt when she went to Dogpatch. This is a great book for all ages. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.

A beautiful story about a young girl following her dreams.
I loved this book because it teaches young girls to follow their dreams, to work hard, and not give up in the face of adversity. There is a bond which exists between people and animals. I wish that the friendship between Pat and Penny had been explored in greater detail. It was very touching to watch the two grow up together. I read this book to my daughter and found myself weeping at the end - for the end of Pat's childhood, the beginning of her adulthood, and the passing of Penny. Was this review helpful?
