The early ones were so much better
I loved the first 5 books of the Mrs. Pollifax series -- right through Palm. I don't think her getting married has been the problem, but clinging to Farrell makes them much less interesting. In the early ones, Mrs. Pollifax would be by herself, assigned to some small duty overseas, and before you know it, she would have organized a band of amateurs, like herself, into achieving a daringly impossible feat. In some of the recent ones, Mrs. Pollifax just seems to be along for the ride. She also seems more serious and worried than she used to be -- nicer when she was just enjoying the sense of wonder at not feeling like commiting suicide! If that can't be achieved, perhaps a return to the nuns or the clairvoyant countess would be nice. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback.
