    Basic, careful history

For those desiring to read the hisitory of Islam as accepted b y mainstream Moslems, this book is essential. It is detailed and scholarly, making no judgments about the historicity of supposed superantural events in the Moslem narrative, but simply laying it out dispassionately for all to weigh.

    One of the best biographies...

This book was so beautifully written. Martin Lings was a Muslim revert who came from a Protestant background. He was a professor of Middle English and you can see how this translates into poetic and eloquent writing. This is by far my favorite biography about the Prophet *saaws*. It may not be perfect, and God knows best, but I think you can clearly see that it was a sincere attempt. It's a great teaching tool as well as spiritual guide.

You think you know Prophet Muhammad?

You don't need any other book than this. Martin Lings presents the life of Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) in a fashion never seen in any other book. You almost get the feeling you know the Prophet Muhammad(pbuh) personally! Very extremely highly recommended!

    The Prophecy and the Prophet

I'm reading the Holy Koran for the first time and Muhammad by Martin Lings adds a dimension to the Holy Koran that provides insight into life and times of God's final Prophet.

Ling's work is brilliant and in itself inspirational. The Holy Koran provides a clear road map to God, if we are prepared to follow it's illuminating guidance.

Reading The Holy Koran and Ling's Muhammad as a companion work frames the life and times of Muhammad who I must admit to loving very deeply. Muhammad and God's Holy Koran have changed my life. I no longer add gods to God!

The best, truthful, interesting account based on early sources. Alhamdulillah.

May God Bless this author for his effort to research and present the historical incidents and detailed account of the life of the Prophet PBUH. He makes no judgement, and no inferences of his own, unlike some other radical muslim writers or biased non-muslim writers. (Yes, the author IS muslim). I have read the life of the prophet PBUH in many other books. But this one tops them all. I feel that I have gotten to know the life of the Prophet much better. It also ties in some of the revelations of the Quran and the incidents that led to the revelations. Together with the Yusuf Ali translation of the Quran, you get the best knowledge of the Life of the Prophet PBUH, for those who wish to go on and then read the Tafseer. I would recommend it as a Must Read, and Great Gift for anyone, muslim or those just interested in Islam. It is a good textbook as well for Islamic civilization and history courses. It is easy to read. Keeps the reader turning the pages to know more. Other people who I know have read the book and will say the same.

    Disappointing!!

Excuse me but im not trying to be rude. But how is a non- muslim suppose to write a book about prophet Muhammad- peace be upon him. You should look at the facts in the Holy Quran and write it!! My goddness!!!
