Good mystery
I enjoyed it, but it's not my favorite Agatha Christie, as it's a little heavy on the murders.

Christie doesn't disappoint
The vivid characters, the involved plots, the double entendres and hidden meanings, the historic backdrop of village England - it's all here in this page turner.

Doable!
So often, nobody in their right mind could have possibly figured out who the guilty party was before the big reveal. This is an exception. Pay attention, watch for subtle clues, and you might be able to deduce the killer in the end. (In the interest of full disclosure, I must state for the record that I was waaaay off) Good Luck

Christie Doesn't Disappoint
I checked this one out at the library to decide whether or not it was worth buying. I was not disappointed. This was one of the best mystery novels I have ever read! It was well-written, suspensful, and left you on the edge of your seat from start to finish. I began to suspect that Letitia Blacklock was indeed her sister, Charlotte, towards the end of the book, but had no idea that she was the killer!! I was convinced that Pip and Emma were behind the whole thing. Agatha Christie knows how to give you just enough information to make you think that you've got the whole thing figured out, and then she blows most, if not all, of your theory out of the water. I love this one.

Great mystery, great characters, great book
This is classic Agatha Christie. It's not only a really good mystery filled with interesting characters, it's a book with well written characters. I felt like these characters had lives beyond the book.

Christie was not only a great mystery writer, she was a great writer. This book is not just about a series of murders... there are bits and pieces of how those murders affect a small community. And embedded within that structure there is a time capsule of England and what it was like in a time of flux following the war - the changes and how the people were reacting to that set of changes.
Highly recommended. -

Another surprising conclusion
Leave it up to Agatha Christie and Miss Marple to have a completely surprising ending!! She has such a way of making sure you are second guessing yourself all the way to the very end! I love her mysteries as the are free of all of the sex, drugs and horrible violence that books written today are.

Am Murder Is Announced
This book is the best Miss Marple book I've read. The twists, turns, and characters are nothing short of Christie's best. I recommend this book to anyone who loves the Miss Maple series.

Miss Marple on the trail of a brillant murderer
This is one of the best Christie and Miss Marple books ever written. The characters are great including a highly emotional Middle European cook, a manly-looking lady farmer, two mischevious relatives, a solemn-looking young writer, and others. This book is also great because of the post WW2 period and the book is filled with at least three murders and a killer YOU WILL BE SURPRISED TO FIND OUT and the motivation is a very clever and different one. I truly enjoyed this novel.

A MEMORABLE TALE SUPERBLY READ
Although first published in 1950 'A Murder Is Announced' by vaunted mystery writer Agatha Christie has lost none of its zest. Deemed a classic in its genre this suspenseful tale is ably represented by British voice and television actress Rosemary Leach. When invitations are sent reading 'A murder is announced, and will take place on Friday, October 29th, at Little Paddocks at 6:30 p.m.,' everyone, including the indomitable Jane Marple, would anticipate an unusual party game. Such as, someone will be chosen as the murderer, the room is darkened, and the victim meets his fate. It's not all fun and games when a real dead body is found. Miss Marple, on your mark! With her inimitable skill Agatha Christie allows listeners to enjoy solving the crime, step by step, just as much as Miss Marple does. Curl up in an easy chair and revel this remarkable tale wonderfully read.
