MURDER ON THE MIND is a gripping debut by a skilled author. L.L. Bartlett pulls no punches when it comes to her characters, and ably draws us along to search for the answers right along with Jeff Resnick and his skeptical brother. Both brothers have plenty to learn about each other along the way--and they have to learn fast, because the murderer isn't cutting them any slack. It's a dark-edged story written with concise efficiency--be prepared to discover a fresh new reading experience (and to be glad you did!).

Weak ending.

The occasional unexpected font changes were distracting. There should be a way to correct this at the publishing office.

Interesting premise but just never gelled.  I don't mind suspending belief while reading but the characters' actions are just too unbelievable to hold one's interest.  The author gives details about Buffalo that are smack on and then she tosses in some glaring mistakes (ie., you would not from the airport to Snyder by way of the Grover Cleveland Golf Course and someone living in Orchard Park would not hold a funeral service at church in Snyder).  The whole novel reminded me a stories my friend and I wrote in Junior High - clever ideas but badly executed.

    Gave plot away too early

I really wanted to like this book, but half way through, I knew the 'who' of who done it! Left me reading information with little action. The font changes were not caught by the author as well as some incorrect spelling or lack of words.

For a free book, it was ok

Had I paid for this banal thriller, I would certainly have given it only 1 star.

Another amateur detective who has no legitimate reason for involvement in a murder case. Please. Who jumps to rhe conclusion immediately that he is psychic instead of confused due to a brain injury? And finds an equally gullible enabler in his brother's girlfriend who he hardly knows, but behaves like she's known him forever? And the relationship between Brenda and Richard does not read true at all.

All in all, an old, tired plot delivered in an uninteresting style of writing.

This is a well crafted story right up to the last few pages.  The ending is a huge disappointment.  A minor troublesome issue are the strange font changes.
