Must Love Hellhounds

Nalini Singh "Angel's Judgment" This novella is from Nalini's Guild Hunter series. It follows Sara, the director of the guild before she became director and was a hunter. Sara and the Slayer, Deacon (slayers are Guild's internal police for rogue hunters) hunt down a suspected rogue hunter who has been performing unsanctioned vampire executions. This story was fantastic! It pretty much had it all; action, suspense, delectable sexual tension, mystery and the storyline was superb! This novella was exhilarating, impressively done and complete. It got me all hyped up to read the next Guild Hunter's novel, Archangel's Kiss due out 2/10/2010. This novella turned out to be my favorite story out of this anthology. 5+/5

Ilona Andrews "Magic Mourns" This novella is from the Kate Daniel's series. It focus's on Andrea, Kate's best friend. The story seems to pick up shortly after where Magic Strike's leaves off. I've been waiting on this novella for a long time, after getting just a tease of Andrea and Raphael's budding relationship. They are both hot-headed and at times volatile. Andrea and Raphael hunt down a necromancer who has stolen the dead body of Aunt B's mate (Aunt B is Raphael's mother and also the werehyena alpha), and finally hash out their issues. Unfortunately it's not at an opportune time, since they're being chased by a hellhound. It's so refreshing to see the male and female share the alpha/beta role, as oppose to the usual were story where the female only has value because of her mate's stature. This story was exciting, complete and well done. I also look forward to reading the next book in the Kate Daniels series Magic Bleeds due out 6/2010. 5/5

Meljean Brook "Blind Spot" I haven't read Meljean's Guardian series and have been on the fence about it for some time. This novella was easy to follow even though I am not familiar with the series. Maggie, a personal body guard and a hellhound named Sir Pup, help Geoff, Maggie's employer's nephew in rescuing Geoff's sister, Katherine who has been kidnapped. After enjoying this novella tremendously, I will definitely be picking up her Guardians series. This story was interesting, exciting and smoothly done. 5/5

Charlaine Harris "Britlingens Go to Hell" I've read several short stories by Charlaine and never really enjoy her novellas, however, I did find this novella the most enjoyable of the short stories I've read in the past from her. Two body guards are hired to guard a thief through his trip through hell, to steal back one of Lucifer's valuable treasures. This story felt a bit choppy. The storyline had great potential but fell a bit short of feeling complete. 3/5

This anthology was a success in my opinion. All stories kept to the hellhound theme and had a fun, humorous feel to them.

outrageous ebook price

please tell me why the ebook price is 12.99 when it's a paperback that starts out @ 7.99. I thought we were supposed to save money on books if we boughta nook not get overcharged!

Good group

I really like this group of short stories. If you like Charlaine Harris, Sookie Stackhouse books you should like the rest of the stories

Where is the Hounds??

Sorry, I was disappointed in these stories. I was looking for more interaction with the hounds and not so much on the heavy romance. I'm really tired reading about the women drooling over abs, tight rears, etc.
I know I'm in the minority, but I'll be looking for stories with more gal action and not in the bedroom.

Sir Pup Rocks!

As usual with these anthologies, I usually buy the book because of one author. In this case, it was MeljeanBrook. It was fun to see Maggie and Geoff together, and I enjoy anytime I get to read about Sir Pup. What a great secondary character.

Each story held true to the books title and it was great that each author had their own original hound within their story. I have to say that Deacon and Sarah's story was my favorite of them all. It was the most complete and satisfying in what I look for in even a short story.

My favorite hellhound (no contest) is Sir Pup. What a hound! Best I've ever encountered in all I've read that held a hound of hell within. He was so versatile, humorous and laid back for a hound of hell.

I've read only from Charlaine Harris before (whom I am a fan of). But this helped me discover 3 new authors. One in which I'm extremely curious of the rest of her works (Nalini Singh).

Andrews' story was great!...Harris' was good too

I bought the book for "Magic Mourns", Ilona Andrews contribution and it was sooo worth it. This story is between Magic Strikes and Magic Bleeds it tell the story of how Andrea and Raphael final get together. I think there is enough back story for it to make a good introduction for someone who hasn't read the series and it's very fulfilling for someone who has. Harris' "The Britlingens go to Hell" is a story about the body guards from All Together Dead. This story was enjoyable but I don't think she stayed true to the characters she showed up in the sookie books.

Entertaining with an exception.

The beginning story by Charlaine Harris was a bit disappointing, but Nalini Singh pulled the book back to my attention. Entertaining short stories if skip over the absurdness of the first short story.

Wonderful Stories

Each author brought a touch of fun into their stories in this collection of novellas. I enjoyed each one ... and came away with 2 new authors for my collections.

3 out of 4 isn't bad

I really liked three of the 4 stories. Because I really don't read much of the first Author but other than that I really liked all the stories in this book.

Hellhounds

I like anthologies & short stories-introduces different authors that I might have missed; great for reading just before bed & if you liked this you will like others like Twisted Fairy Tales, Many Bloody Returns and Strange Brew

LOVED IT!

I bought this book to read the story written by Charlaine Harris, which I thoroughly enjoyed. It made me wish she would write a series about those characters. The second story I enjoyed just as profusely, by Nalini Singh, if I remember correctly. Enough that I have bought the first book to her series. The third story was a bit difficult to focus on, for me at the beginning, but picked up somewhere in the middle. The last story in the book, the details escape my memory, sadly I cannot find anything by this author.

Really Good Anthology

Loved this anthology! All the stories were wonderful and entertaining, and I recommend it to all Urban Fantasy Romance readers!

four fun fantasies

"The Britlingens Go to Hell" by Charlaine Harris. Crick the client hires Britlingens bodyguards Batanya and Clovache to protect him from Lucifer's minion as he retrieves something he took but left behind when his host the king of Hell's hospitality ended.

"Angels' Judgment" by Nalini Singh. Vampire trackers Sara and Deacon know the serial killer is from within their Guild, but identifying the psychopath murdering vampires proves difficult.

"Magic Mourns" by Ilona Andrews. Andrea the Order of Knights Merciful Aid and werehyena Raphael meet and are attracted to one another as they seek a stolen corpse by tracking Cerberus the three-headed dog who normally sits at the entrance to Hades.

"Blind Spot" by Meljean Brook. Former CIA agent and current personal assistant to Colin the vampire Maggie and Sir Pup the Hellhound try to rescuer her boss' kidnapped nephew and niece.

These are four fun fantasies that readers will enjoy as each contribution is entertaining with lead players who MUST LOVE HELLHOUNDS as they deal with these pets and others from hell.
