In 1332 Dorwich, Duncan de Ware and his brothers observe the guildswoman waiting at the dock holding letters of marque signed by King Edward. When Spanish Captain El Gallo, a notorious sea reiver, arrives, the woman challenges him for his cargo since his country stole her wool. Seeing the de Ware brood nearby, an irate El Gallo gives the woman his wine. She simply spills her new cargo out on the ground.

Duncan worries about the woman Linet de Montfort and decides to keep an eye on her in order to protect her from El Gallo. In spite of an immediate attraction between them, she wants Duncan to leave her alone feeling the gypsy is bad for business especially for a first year 'sole femme'. However, when the Spanish abduct Linet, her only hope for rescue lies with the gypsy.

MY CHAMPION is an exciting medieval romance that provides readers with an in depth look at the fourteenth century. The insider's view enhances a non-stop action plot that engages the audience from first page to last. The squabbling but charming and brave lead couple adds alight touch to a powerful historical romance that deserves sequels starring other de Ware siblings.

Overall this was a good read. I had some issues with Linet. She is more than just "spirited". She shows a frequent complete lack of common sense and absolutely no sense of self-preservation. Her shallow and misplaced pride also get frustrating, as do the overabundance of weaving analogies. Also, Duncan has dozens of by-blows which are written in as passing reference which is kind of unsettling to the storyline. I get it- different times, different cultures, but it still puts a check mark into the Irresponsible Dumb-A$$ column of his qualities.Other than these few peeves, it had plenty of action and romance and kept me engaged.

    Please

I dont know if I want to take a chance and buy another book for the story was good but linet was driving me nuts. Please dont mess up a good book with a silly women. You have the making of a good writer and could have done so much more with that silly child. I will give your book another shot. For maybe this was a bad mistake in Linet. He deserve a woman. Enjoyed immensely, would recommend both books in the series.

I like this writer and was pleased that I remained interested through out the entire book. I also have read the next book in the series with the same contentment with the story plot, depth of characters and romance. A Good Read.

Met author at Irish Fair - loved the book!

My co-worker met the author at the Irish Fair this year.. being male he did not enjoy the book at all. I took it up, and could not put it down. Glynnis has a vivid imagination, Duncan and Linet are a crazy match, even though it is hard to believe that a man would endure such pain (physically and emotionally) for his betrothed. Anyway, I have ordered My Warrior and My Hero to finish the series of the De Ware brothers. Good solid enjoyment!

    Great book

Ok I really loved this book and would give it four and a half stars if I could. I took off a little for points because I REALLY hated that the hero had like twenty bastards. It added absolutely nothing to the story! Why couldn't he rescue waifs out of the goodness of his heart...anyway other than that I really could not put this book down and read it straight through in one setting. Would totally recommend!
