Is your first love the Is your first love the lasting one or a forgettable blush..one or a forgettable blush..

Jordan Lennox, the Earl of Falconridge knew from the first moment he set his eyes on Mara she was the woman he wanted for the rest of his life. But their first meeting could not be the groundwork for a lasting relationship as he had been inducted into the Inferno Club and had to fulfill his duties as a spy working with his brother warriors. But after 12 years of devoted service Jordan again encounters Mara who is now the widow Lady Pierson and still as dazzling and captivating as the first moment he saw her.

Mara lives her life as a devoted mother to her son Thomas and pillar of society despite rumors that she is the King's mistress. Keeping one's head about the fray of gossip is not easy, but a woman used to criticism can deal with anything and her loyalty to the Prince will not be tainted by filthy, unfounded rumors. She owes him so much that cannot ever be repaid by a simple thank you and no one will convince her otherwise.

Jordan tries to hold back his feelings for her but they are so overwhelming and consuming even his duties to the Inferno Club cannot stop him from pursing Mara again. Jordan sees Mara as his ability to have normalcy in his life and her beauty dazzles him so that all he sees is a life surrounded by her love. However Mara is not so sure that everything can return to the way it was because there are trust issues between them and she fears he may lie to her again and leave her wanting for his love not basking in the warmth of it.

When an assignment for Jordan causes him to bring Mara into his realm of mystery and sneaking about in the night will Jordan be able to use her as a ploy to get the information he seeks or will he make the right decision and let love rule his heart? It is difficult for Jordan to make this decision because so many rely on him as the voice of reason but with Mara's love on the line all bets are off on what he might choose as the right road to take?

This is the 3rd book in the series and shows why Ms. Foley rules the historical genre. The plot is fresh, the characters engaging and the twists go this way while the turns go another. You don't know who to trust and who is the liar so stay alert or you will be reading the book again to see what you missed - which is not a bad thing if you think about it.

    INCREDIBLY IRRESISTBLE REGENCY ROMANCE

New York Times bestselling author, Gaelen Foley's Inferno Club Regency series for Avon keeps on getting better and better with Book #3, MY IRRESISTIBLE EARL (April 2011). In 1816 London, the beautiful widow, Mara Bryce, Lady Pierson is at Christie's auction house bidding on a Gerrit Dou portrait for her dear friend, Prinny, the Prince Regent when she spies Jordan Lennox, the Earl of Falconridge, who she hasn't seen in twelve years since they were both guests at an extended country house party. Mara, whose unfeeling parents were trying to marry her off, thought she had made a love match with Jordan after he rescued her from her cruel mother and was so attentive to her. Instead he leaves right away for the continent and Mara never hears from him again. The Earl has recently returned from being abroad for many years under the guise as a carefree diplomat for the English crown. He is also a known member of the scandalous Inferno Club. In reality Jordan is one of the most trusted agents of the Order and sworn to protect his King and fellow Englishman from their evil archenemies, the Promethean Society, who want to control the world. Jordan is at Christie's to discover who will bid on the ancient Alchemist's Scrolls that will hopefully lead him to the ringleaders of the Prometheans when he spots the sable-haired, Mara, who he has never forgotten. Mara wants nothing more do to with Jordan and is happy just being a mother to her two-year-old son, Thomas. However, they keep running into each other not only at Christie's but a house party and finally Hyde Park where Jordan comes to their rescue from a street mob. Jordan is under the wrong assumption that Mara is Prinny's mistress but when he finds out it isn't true there's no stopping him from pursuing Mara again. Will these two star-crossed lovers be together after so many years or will Jordan's duty to the Order's Inferno Club again prevent him from doing so? MY IRRESISTIBLE EARL proves once again why Ms. Foley's work is so incredibly irresistible---- dynamic characters, who jump off the page, historical details so rich you feel you've stepped back in time and an endearing, passionate love story her fans will adore! Readers will not only be burning the midnight oil but yearning for the next brilliantly set up installment!

an exciting second chance at love suspense thriller

Diplomat Jordan Lennox is an earl who gave up much of what he desired to join the infamous Inferno Club whose scandalous activity conceal their pledge to protect the king. Of all he left behind when he swore allegiance to the secret order, perhaps the one that hurts the most and the only to fill his soul with remorse is Lady Mara Bryce; who on first sight he knew she was the person he wanted by his side forever. Twelve years ago, he asked her to wait for him before vanishing to perform his duty. He never came back and she married, but is now a widow.

When they meet for the first time in a dozen years, Mara and Jordan know the attraction between them remains strong. He considers that destiny has brought them back together, but fears for her life as he works an undercover mission to prevent an evil cult from harming the monarch. However, his bringing Mara into the fold leaves her in danger while he second guesses his decision to not lose her again.

The third Inferno Club espionage Regency romance (see My Wicked Marquess and My Dangerous Duke) is an exciting second chance at love suspense thriller. The story line is fast-paced from start to finish although the overarching theme of the current battle between the Inferno Club and the Prometheans in their centuries-old war does not move as the espionage subplot never quite gels beyond bringing deadly danger to Mara. Still sub-genre fans will enjoy the love story of an Inferno.
