This book made me cry.

After i read this book my dad took me on a daddy daughter date. All we did was hang out. I am a total daddy's girl and i always will be. I just want Tim McGraw to know my daddy and i will always be yur biggest fans untill the end of time. Love-MiKayla. :v)

Excellent!

I thought the book, My Little Girl, was an EXCELLENT book by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas. I look forward to reading Tim's second book.

I purchased this book because I have a son who wanted Boys and got Girls!

I am a preschool teacher and purchase a large quantity of children's books. I had heard about this book because of Tim McGraw and when I saw it I purchased several copies. It captivates the reader with pictures and that dad's and their girls can find things to do together. The princess attitude and a daddy's love can be dealt with if you give it a chance. I am sometimes lead to buy children's books for grown-ups needing the message. I gave this book to my son to read to his two little girls.

Cute and inspiring!

I admit to being a fringe country music fan, and I appreciate the expressions of Christian faith I hear in McGraw's music, as well as hearing of his devotion as a husband and father, so I was curious about his foray into children¿s literature.

My daughter and I really enjoyed this sweet-as-sugar-and-spice book that celebrates the relationship between a father and daughter.

In the story, Katie prepares for an extravagant day with her father, but his plans didn¿t include anything extraordinary. Their enjoyment of each other is inspiring and put many smiles on my daughter¿s face. The whimsical illustrations add to the charm by really bringing out the characters¿ personalities.

As a parent I often think that creating great memories requires big events, extravagance or money, but McGraw¿s story shows that even ¿nothing-in-particular¿ moments can strengthen the bond between a parent and child and provide lasting memories of life together.

I was encouraged how McGraw, a top-selling musician, writes in a down-to-earth manner and how he demonstrates his faith and values in subtle ways in his writing, such as Katie¿s bedtime prayer. His wife Faith Hill writes the forward and expresses her hope ¿for fathers and daughters to enjoy each other¿s company and make memories reading together.¿

My Little Girl is thoroughly enjoyable!

I thought about reviewing this book before Christmas as a special book for Father¿s to give their young daughters. I realized in reading the book that the point is that every day is a special day if you are spending it with the people you love. It is his way of letting her know how much he loves her and that his little girl is very important to him.

Katie's dad promises her a "spectacular day" for just the two of them. At the though of this, Katie starts to imagine all sorts of fun and creative things that they could do together. What to wear? Her tiara if they are going to the ball or her jungle boots if they go to Africa.

It turns out her father had something different in mind. They are going to do nothing in particular, just being together ¿ father and daughter. They have fun running errands and doing, 'everyday things' ¿ a trip to the co-op, a lunch of alphabet soup, and a swing in the park. Katie declares, ¿I had a spectacular, nothing-in-particular day¿.

I enjoyed the beautiful illustrations by Julia Denos that thoroughly capture the relationship between the father and daughter. Faith Hill writes the forward to the book saying ¿that books provide a gateway into a child's imagination¿ and that her hope is this book will provide ¿quality time¿ for fathers and daughters to spend time together.

I enjoyed this book this book. It is a delightful reminder that spending time together really matters.

Quality Time

My Little Girl, by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas is a sweet book written from a father's heart. Although there is not much action or plot within this story, it is a great demonstration of the importance of time spent together, regardless of what you are doing. If you are looking for a story to help you communicate to your daughter how important she is, this would be a great story to read together. There are a few names or places that might not be familiar to some little girls, such as co-op or feed, but that does not take away for the story and gives the opportunity for imagination to grow. It is very apparent how much these authors love their little girls as they created this story. Quality time spent with our children is lacking these days with the need to entertain or keep them active which makes this book the perfect example for both parents and children of what could be. The illustrations throughout the book are colorful and give the little one's eye lots to lookat from fun dressup clothes to sweet bunnies to demonstrations of love between a father and daughter. This is the perfect book for you to read to your daughter if you are trying to create some quality time together. Check it out!

Poor Choice!

This is good for Tim McGraw fans, but is generally a poor book otherwise. The illustrations are awkward and the story is difficult to follow.

Review-My Little Girl

It is a very simple book that celebrates the mundane everyday things that become the spectacular memories of childhood. This dad promises his little girl a spectacular day just with her. In her planning for the day of which she knows only it will be her dad and her she picks an outfit consisting of everything from tiara to jungle boots. I can totally relate to this as my kiddo does the same packing for overnights witht he grandparents.

This is really a sweet book but I have one complaint, the transitions from activity to activity are not very smooth. Twice I started one page but thought I had skipped a page and had to go back. The illustrations are every important to the book.

The point of the book though is to point out that memories are not only made by the spectacular but even the mundane things become specatcular when shared. The dad in the book really points out his love and his pride for his daughter both verbally and physically by spending time with her.

Both he and his wife want to foster the daddy/daughter relationships which is so very important to a girl's self-esteem and well-being.

Ideal Daddy/Daughter read!

I just finished reading a wonderful children¿s book written by country music singer Tim McGraw and songwriter Tom Douglas. My Little Girl is the story of a little girl named Katie and her Daddy and their plans to spend a spectacular day together. Katie is expecting big plans from her Daddy and is ready for all kinds of adventures, but she becomes somewhat disappointed when he tells her that they were going to do ¿nothing in particular.¿ Their day of ¿nothing in particular¿ turns into a trip of playing with the bunnies at the co-op, dancing, gazing at the clouds, swinging in a tire, and writing words in their alphabet soup over lunch. It didn¿t take Katie long to realize that a spectacular day is spending time with one that you love.

The book¿s illustrations by Julia Denos are vibrant, bright, and fun. You can feel Katie¿s excitiement through the pictures. My Little Girl features an inscription page to complete which adds to making it an ideal gift idea. There is a foreward by Tim McGraw¿s wife, Faith Hill, that mentions their three girls and how reading provides a gateway to every child¿s future. The final page in the book provides an area to write a special Daddy / Daughter moment.

This book would be an excellent choice for Daddies to give and read to their daughters. I¿m sure it will inspire Daddies and daughters to spend more time together doing ordinary things. What little girl doesn¿t want more one-on-one time with her Daddy? The best part of the story is that it shows you don¿t need anything fancy or expensive to have fun. Just spending time doing everyday things provides some of the greatest memories you could ever have.

Perfect book for father and daughter

Tim McGraw wrote a fun but simple story of a father and daughter spending the day with one another. They do nothing in particular, but the entire day is special to them. They look at animals, dance, swing, and look at the clouds. This book shows the great bond that a father and daughter have. Julia Denos has done a beautiful job with the illustrations. They are colorful and fun to look at. The end of the book has a page where a dad and daughter can write about their own special day. This book will be a favorite for little girls.

Skeptic's sketch

I ordered My Little Girl, by Tim McGraw and Tom Douglas, thinking "it's pink, so E will like it, but I know it's gonna be cheesy". I must admit, this skeptic was pleasantly surprised.

The pictures are captivating--colorful and likable. The storyline is down to earth and believable. Except for the really coutryish parts--I'm too citified to find excitement in dancing with chickens and riding in a pick-up truck.

I love the fact that this book made the mundane everyday tasks of the day "super spectacular special"--just because daddy and his little girl were together. It doesn't take a trip to Disney, a new Hannah Montana wardrobe, and an iphone to make a day special, it's just doing life TOGETHER that makes it so special.

I loved that at the end of the story there's a page where you are encouraged to spend some special daddy-daughter time and write your own story or memory.

I think I'd have to, begrudgingly almost, recommend this book!

Daddy's Little Girl

I recently had the opportunity to read "My Little Girl" by Tim Mcgraw and Tom Douglas. The story is about a day a dad spends with his little girl. It's a sweet portrayal of the admiration they share for one another. The illustration was my favorite part of this book. It brought the story to life and engaged my daughter. It I thought it would be appropriate to have my husband read this book to our four year old little girl and observe the result. She was obsorbed by it and commented on things as the story progressed. It was enjoyable for me to watch them interact as they seemed to participate in the journey with the characters. After the story was over, they headed into the kitchen and made brownies together. It is at the core of a little girls heart to be loved and adored by her father. This book brings to light the beauty of that relationship and will hopefully remind fathers all over to take time out to invest in the heart of their little girls. As is true in most relationships, the most important thing is spending time together not what the time is spent doing. I appreciate that truth being a highlight of this book and instilling that value somewhere in the heart of my daughter. On the critical side, the beginning lost me for a second. I think the dog was pondering what the day would be about? I'm not sure. It only lasted for a page though and didn't negatively effect the story.

Not just for dads

This book was absolutely adorable. Even though I am not a daddy I decided to read it to my daughter. The book starts of a little confusing¿I know, it is a children¿s book, how could it be confusing? Well, either way I was slightly confused but quickly found my bearing. The book is about a little girl who is anticipating a spectacular day with her daddy. The book easily captured the true grandiose imaginations of children. A spectacular day to little Katie means a royal ball or a trip to Africa. Whatever shall she wear? Well everything of course! Katie is highly disappointed when she finds out her spectacular day is going to consist of nothing in particular. But she is pleasantly surprised by the wonderful treats her daddy has in store for her.

Not only was this book cleverly written but the illustrations were beautiful as well. Katie is a very loved little girl and her confidence in her parents love shows in the smile on her face on every page of the book. I thought it was cute that the daddy in the book looks an awful lot like Tim McGraw as well.

The foreword, by Faith Hill, was cute and provided a lovely introduction to the story in this book. That family seems to be one of the few that may actually survive the horrors of media attention. This book gives the readers a glimpse into what a loving family and father daughter relationship should consist of. Kudos to this book and the wonderful, caring story it offers to the reader. Whether you are a daddy or a mommy, this is a fantastic book to share with your daughter.

A super cute father/daughter story

Katie's Dad has promised her a special day. As she's getting ready she is having visions of a royal ball as a princess and an adventurer stomping through the jungle in Africa. What she gets is a typical day with nothing in particular planned. But the time spent with her Dad turns in the best day of all.

I thought this book was too cute. What I especially liked was that there is a special page at the beginning to dedicate this book for your "little girl" and a page at the end to write out your own "love you more" story. I recommend picking this book up for daughters or special girls up to about age 10.
