Marilyn Monroe...a story of a lost soul
There has been a debate as to whether this book was truly written by Marilyn Monroe. In my heart I believe that it is true autobiographical representation. It is truly a heart-wrenching story of a lost soul who deserved so much more in her life. All Marilyn craved was love. From the time that her mother was admitted into a mental institution Marilyn was sent back and forth from an orphanage to several foster homes. She didn't feel like she belonged anywhere. What a lonely existence that surrounded her!! She didn't have 'a constant' in her life. The book chronicles a few of the different foster homes she went into, a young marriage that was destined for breakup considering one of the reasons she went into it was that she would be removed from foster care at the ripe age of 16. It shows the transformation from Norma Jean to Marilyn Monroe - the legend. The book narrates the ups and downs of Hollywood, movie producers, and studios. Marilyn tells of how her beaus constantly criticized her and how it affected her. With all of her fame and legendary stardom, Marilyn suffered from lonliness and had low self-esteem. This book goes as far her second marriage to Joe DiMaggio. That is the only disappointing part of it because you crave more. Other than that the book was a wonderful and easy read and allowed you inside of Marilyn's mind and heart.
