If ever one wanted to know the heart of a poet, all one would need to do is read Jean Lisette Brodey's book My Way to Anywhere. In its pages are all the emotions, feelings, and musings of a true poet.

While reading these glorious verses, I felt as if I had met her, I cried, mourned, loved, lost, and laughed with her. It held me spellbound as I traveled through her memories and life. Laughed out loud reading her children's verses, which very much reminded me of those verses, I grew up with, written by many of the classic children's poets.

Dr. Brodey's talent is deep; her prose written to delight and to touch one to the deepest core of their being. I believe anyone reading, `My Way to Anywhere' will find something in it that will touch them.

Highly recommended for all ages as in its pages there is something for everyone.

I absolutely love this book of beautifully-written, amazing poet

I absolutely love this book of beautifully-written, amazing poetry by Dr. Brodey.
Each poem touched me in a different way. I found myself smiling and also being moved to tears at times. The poems are so brilliantly written that they bring forth such emotions from the reader. It is as if there is a world contained in each poem. I was fascinated, and felt a part of the messages that Dr. Brodey is sharing in this book. I have read it and re-read it, and am looking forward to doing so again!
After having read the "About the Author," I was even more impressed. In addition to looking forward to even more poetry, I  wonder if there is any chance of the author writing an autobiography. What an interesting, accomplished, exceptional person!
I also think that this book will make a great gift. I plan on sharing a copy with the special people in my life for any occasion. I know they will love it, too.
Thank you, Dr. Brodey, for sharing your unique gifts and talents, and for sharing so much of your self through your touching, lovely, amazing, captivating poetry.

My Way to Anywhere (Dr. Jean Lisette Brodey)

A fantastic collection of poetry. Each one filled with emotions. I believe every poem is like a finger print, a unique and individual print. The print of the writers soul and heart, as well as the reader. Each person will find that special verse that reaches deep into their soul , their inner core of emotions. Perhaps a childhood memory, fond memories of a lover, or even a dear friend or family member. I found quite a few that have touched me in ways I can not describe.

    I truly enjoyed My Way to Anywhere and I would like to list my top three favorites;
The Anniversary of His Death, Funeral & An Ending.

I would love to see a second edition of Dr. Brodeys wonderful work.

Review by Shykia Bell (BN glitch wouldn't accept pen name)

"My Way To Anywhere" is a brilliant collection of poems written during a time unrushed by the madness of modern technology. It wasn’t written by a woman in pursuit of fast fame, but by Dr. Jean Lisette Brodey, a woman who wrote for the sheer joy and passion of writing. Though her earlier work has been included in national publication, life deferred her plans of publishing a poetry book of her own. More than fifty years elapsed and her cherished poems were feared lost until one day, like a sprouting young flower the collection reemerged in the Spring of possibility. Her daughter, Lisette, took the time to help her nurture and prune the vast assortment, eventually compiling the verses they felt worked best together.

Dr. Brodey’s intelligent and vivid prose paints a wide array of images in the reader’s mind and emotions in the heart. In each poetic verse she unfurls tapestries of reminiscence, heartache, love and loss. I found myself in awe of the masterful way she handled symbolism and metaphor while telling a story in each of her poems. By the time I finished the collection, I realized that I had been taken on an emotional journey. A number of verses carried me into territory I had never chartered, but was able to visualize and experience through Dr. Brodey’s eloquent recollection and vivid imagination.

Though I find the entire collection captivating, I do have several favorites—some of which stirred my heart and brought tears to my eyes.

"Thursdays Demand Existence" deeply resonated with me. It gave a clear glimpse into the mind of an artist who longs to create, but is tethered to a world filled with obligation.

"An Ending" and "Funeral" both struck a heartbreaking chord. It felt as though somehow the author and I were united in mourning, though our respective losses took place in vastly different eras.

In some cases, Dr. Brodey’s poems served as a vessel through which I revisited moments of passion, wonder and despair that have occurred in my life. "My Way to Anywhere" is a book in which I believe many people can find some sense of comfort and understanding since at some point or another, many of us have faced the topics covered in these poems, though we don’t always find the bravery to face the intense emotions they sometimes stir up. Bravery, it seems, is something she has in large supply and perhaps some of it has rubbed off on me, as I’m sure it will many readers as they continue on their way to Anywhere.
