    so so

i wanted to like it, but the characters were stagnant and the storyline was still lame around page 90.

    more from this reviewer

    A GOOD READ its a 3 1/2 rating

i gave this book a 4 rating because i liked it. I adored the supposedly really frightening Hugh the Relentless which truthfully i never really thought as. And there were times when i liked the heroine as well. I liked their interactions with one another.

Oh yea, i do remember that i thought the heroine was quite obnoxious as well. She's quite condescending to other people-- the way she implies she does not eat with Hugh's man because they are rude company and have got nothing smartass to say unlike her. I like smart heroines but she's not one of them. She gives me the impression she thinks she's better than everyone else. Also, the way she gives the cook her own menu and what ingredients she's to use was vastly annoying. i do understand why she's done it to her uncle but i see no reason why she had to do that with Hugh. With her obnoxiousness, i would not have minded if she seriously got hurt ones or twice during the book. That will giver her a lesson to be grateful to the people who saves her ass. if she did not save Rivenhall, i would have thought that Hugh was too good to be with her. That is the only reason i like her. She loves power way to much in my opinion. usually independent women, do not seek as much power as this heroine does.
