For many years as a Christian, I lived in a performance mentali

For many years as a Christian, I lived in a performance mentality, trying to earn God's acceptance ... and failing miserably. The Lord has been renewing my thinking for the past decade in ways that are startling, to the point where I felt like I was swimming upstream in the church culture and wondering if I was really off the mark. There are so many points in this book that are remarkably similar to my own experience, and whole lot of new ones to consider and ponder on.
I found a clear connecting of dots in how Andrew Farley describes the believer's life without the law, and he sheds light on the mystery of how change occurs in a believer's actions. Something I have never read before with such clarity. Andrew's experience as a linguist is clearly evident and gives weight and trustworthiness to the understanding he provides around the scriptures.
I am particularly grateful for the confirmation that we do not need to find exceptional ways to serve God, but that God calls us to live as he has created us. That our desires in life, interests and gifts are God's expression of himself to the world through us. That God loves the me he created and been made alive in Christ ... I am allowed to be me! Hey, I can do that ... and rest in it.

    I Also Recommend:

    Great book

I've been reading The Naked Gospel by Andrew Farley which the Ooze Viral Blogger program sent to me and I've really been enjoying it. The idea behind the Naked Gospel is the truth of the gospel without all the trappings that we've added over the years. The description of the book says it like this: Jesus Plus Nothing. I LOVE THAT. It's an easy read and very thought provoking, and I believe, very honoring to Jesus and his intent for the "good news" of the gospel. It's not a theological handbook or anything like that, but if you are tired of the stuff we've added to following Jesus, or if you feel like maybe you'd like to read a book that reminds you about Grace, and the way that Jesus sees you I highly recommend this book.

Wow! This answered so many nagging questions.

This is an amazing book. I've always had problems understanding the Bible and this book really helped me. The Naked Gospel makes so much sense. I wish I'd read this book years ago.
