A must read for inspirational, historical facts on woman pioneers.

Jane Kirkpatrick has done it again. Another series that warms the heart. True historical facts interspersed with characters who show inspiration and courage. We should have more Marie Dorian's in todays world. Just started JK's Every Fixed Star and can't put it down.

BETRAYAL AND DECEIT, SACRIFICE AND COURAGE

A prime example of the old west traders and trailblazers fiction at its historical best. A book to read slowly, not so much concerned with how it ends, but to experience every mile of the rugged journey. Jane Kirkpatrick crafts graphic details of Ioway Indian Marie Dorian's mental and physical survival for herself and her children as she travels a rough man's trail, the trading route west from a woman with children's point of view. A rich exploration of what drives men to forge wilderness trails and what motivates their women to follow. An honest portrayal of a beastly time in our country's history, focused through the passions of a mother's heart.

    A must-read for Women's History buffs

Jane brings the fur trade era alive with a character right out of history--Marie Dorion--a woman with character and grit. A beautifully written book.

Depth and eloquence on the written page

A Name of Her Own by Jane Kirkpatrick - Jane Kirkpatrick is one of the most profound, compelling authors I've ever read. She knows the human heart and communicates with depth and eloquence on the written page. A Name of Her Own held me captive with its truth and the characters became friends. If you liked the Kinship and Courage series, you'll want to buy this one too.
