Spotting the tree dwellers
As an non-American this book have proven to be very helpful in identifying some of the birdlife that I have noticed outside the apartment. The birdlife here is quite different to what I am accustomed to seeing, especially in regards to the colours... hence the need for a bird book.
I have found the photos as the method of identification to be helpful - I am more used to drawings which can be very subjective. For some of the birds there are some photos of the juveniles which is required if the juveniles and matures change dramatically.
The fact that the book also contains maps of distribution of species is good also as I have no idea what species are found in what part of the country.
The only thing I don't like about the book is the way that the birds are catorgised, however this may be the way the species are catorgised in the US which appears to be slightly different to Europe.
So overall I would recommend this book, to people for general knowledge but also to field scientists as a quick reference guide which is relatively light enough to be included in a field pack.

I have several other reference books to north american birds. Each book has pictures and info others don't. I love to watch birds and this book has helped me identify and enjoy my hobby. I would reccomend it and believe it's worth the money.
