    Potential to transform your life

I only wish I'd read this thirty years ago. My life and my marriage would have been a lot easier. So much valuable wisdom! My only criticism is that the book, because it is written for a female audience, presents a rather negative view of men. After reading Real's earlier work, How Can I Get Through to You?, I understand why, but it's been difficult to discuss New Rules with my husband because of Real's premise that men are flawed (a consequence of psycho-social factors). Anyway, it's a powerful book (and Real doesn't try to make the case that women are without flaws). I do hope Real writes a version New Rules for a male audience (not that men are typical buyers of this kind of book - but wives could much more easily give/share a written-for-males version to/with their husbands).

    A Marriage Saver

I found it hard to get through the initial chapter of the book with its focus on male and female stereotypes. But once past that initial pain, I could see why our couples counselor recommended this book. Lots of very practical and somewhat humorous information in here. This is a wonderful book about buildilng relationship skills. And guess what -those skills translate to other relationships outside of marriage as well. A great tool to have on your bookshelf.

    Read before you get married

A must read for those who wish to love forever. Important points that covers both sexes in a fair way.
