Are you kidding me?
Ok so he did not live on the block his cousins did. He was just one of the little kids they took under their wing because he was related. I realize the addition of fabricated events is necessary for the sale of this book. Fabrications, which hurt many people. How do you write and actually use the names of people without asking their families if they approve? Goes to show some people will do anything for a buck! Seems to me he ought to write about the truth believe me, it was very interesting. I lived it, was a part of it and my family suffered through all of the deaths, shootings and circumstances. IVAN get REAL!

Are you serious?
Having lived around the corner from this Fairy Tale, being related to the person known as P-Funk. This is one hell of an imagination that this dude has.
Mr. P-Funk remembers things differently.. Thus the " P-Funk didn't like me" line in the book. I'll give it to you, You made it out alive and for that you deserve Props. Glad you have made a life for yourself and the streets didn't eat you up alive..
And for those that think i'm hating? I'm not, But some of us know the real deal....

This memoir is definitely a wild train ride that takes you to various stops along this tragic but triumphant journey of struggle, love and survival.
Ivan tells an honest story about growing up during the crack epidemic in the Bronx and the many friends he witnessed resting in coffins as a result of violence.
This book really makes you take a moment and ask yourself . . . "What IS my Next Stop???" -

A NoN-Stop Read
As a product of that exact surroundings I hope some can be reached to give them hope that life is what you make it. Never let your current situation dictate your outcome. The book provides both positive and negitive situations that as you read on can show you that if you choose to you can prevail and over come to live and lead a better life. A encouraging and inspiring read for all.

Empowering!!!
This book is the living proof of how no matter what you go thru YOU have the ultimate power to decide which will be your Next Stop in life. It exceeds any fiction story by far! Once I started reading, it was hard for me to stop. Great story full of challenges & inspiration, It feels like the Puerto Rican version of GoodFellas. A definite must read!

Great book!
Ivan makes you feel that you were living everything he lived page by page. Ivan must have 9 lives because its nothing short of a miracle that he survived. I met Ivan a few days ago and he's the nicest guy you would want to meet. This book was great and look forward to reading more of his work soon. Congratulations, Ivan!

It is a must read!
This book awoke all of my senses. I laughed cried and felt the pain and joy of each of the characters. I felt as if I was right there with them taking those journeys. It was wonderfully written as if the author was speaking directly to me. AMAZING BOOK...cannot wait to read more of his work.

fascinating but also sad memoir
NEXT STOP is a fascinating but also sad memoir of life in the Kingsbridge section of the Bronx in from 1978 to the early 1990s. However unlike most memoirs looking back at a ¿war zone¿, Ivan Sanchez does not tell much about his escape. Instead he focuses on survival, a sort of social Darwinism in practice. The neighborhood is filled with crime mostly violent from professional arsonists collecting fees for torching buildings so owners can collect insurance to drug wars over who peddles where (fundamental capitalistic supply and demand). To live another day, you needed a crew to provide 360 degrees of protection for one another, but that was no guarantee. Readers will be abhorred at the violence, but more so at the way it is taken for granted as part of living in wild Bronx. Well written with plenty of heart, this is not an easy read for unlike TV this is real life for this reviewer who grew up in the Bronx and knows the locations like Creston Ave near Fordham Rd it especially hits home. --- Harriet Klausner
