The ending will give you goose bumps!! A total WOW!!

Like all the Corey stories, you'll be pulled in right from the beginning. Although fictional, the novel contains contemporary historical elements that make the story personal. It's a great ride -- enjoy.

    Loved, loved, loved it!

This is my third book by DeMille and my first about John Corey. If John were a real person, I think I'd be in love! His sense of humor and wit were terrific. The book itself was terrific, although I was a little disappointed in the ending. However, once I thought about it, I guess it was the only way DeMille could end it without adding about 400 more pages to the story. I loved this book and am looking foward to reading more about John Corey!

    Interesting

It has an 'interesting' ending. 'Interesting' is the key word.

    A must read

This was an excellent follow to the Lion Game, in the John Corey series. I found myself doing my own investigative research on Flight 800.

    more from this reviewer

The fun part of some of those conspiracy wackos is when, in fact, there is a good conspiracy going on.

This is the second DeMille I've read -- "The Gate House" was the other -- and I have enjoyed them both.

This proves the value of scouting the remainder table. The fun part of some of those conspiracy wackos is when, in fact, there is a good conspiracy going on. That is the premise of this "based on true events" novel. TWA Flight 800 explodes just a few minutes after take-off and after years of investigation there is the official explanation of accidental explosion due to faulty electrical wiring behind the main fuel tanks.

But when John Corey, re-energized by the 5th year anniversary of the deaths of the 230 aboard the doomed airliner, tries to seek some better answers, he is threatened by his supervisors in the FBI and CIA to drop it or else. As DeMille's story unfolds we are reminded how this disaster occurred nearly at the half-way point between the two World Trade Center bombings in 1993 and 2001. There are eye-witness accounts of a missile streaking toward the plane seconds before the explosion. Yet, no terrorist organization claimed responsibility. Was there an elusive piece of evidence?

The final showdown blends fiction and real-life in a most jarring way. Good read.

    Great Book. Ending Very Surprising.

For those of you who have read this book, you know how it ends, and I have to say, it is one of the best endings to a book I know if. Throughout the whole book you think you know it's coming, but then you second-guess yourself, and right when you think it won't happen, it does. Great read
It's my third DeMille book. My friend reccomened Plum Island for me and I finished it in 2 days. I could't put it down. When I heard there were other Corey books, I had to read them. I read The Lion's Game which was awesome and I had to get Night Fall. I am very happy with my purchase. The only reason I do give this book a four and not a five is because the story can become slow at times. It does not have as much adventure as the other two I read, but it had more than enough.

    A Wild and Intriguing Ride

If you want a book that you won't be able to put down this book is it. From the first chapter to the last Mr. DeMille presents the characters in a way that you feel you know them personally and along the way rooting for the good guys and cursing the bad guys. Mr. DeMille makes one wonder about the clear and present danger of terrorism and what actually happened to TWA Flight 800.

    My First Demille Book

I usually read James Patterson, but for Christmas someone gave me this book. The beginning started off with a lot of text about the flight, what happened, witnesses, ect...kind of boring stuff at first, but stick with it because it turned out to be one of the best books I've read! Great characters (John Corey) and his supporting cast was great too. I will be reading Plum Island next, it is another John Corey book. I strongly recommend this book and I think I will be a Nelson Demille fan for a long time. Being from Long Island, its even better reading these books (because the situations and location are from here).

    A Decent Book

This is just another book about another conspiracy . It is about the TWA/800 crash off the coast of NY. This book is definately a page turner, but it had more profane language than I would have liked. At times the story becomes a little far-fetched and hard to believe and towards the middle of the book it gets a little long and just a little booring but it slowly picks up again. It still has a decent storyline though. The thing I didn't like was the ending. I was hoping that it would be better, it kind of leaves you hanging, But it is worth reading regardless.

    I couldn't put it down!

I wasn't sure I'd like to read a book that takes the tragedy and controversy of TWA Flight 800 and ends up with a work of fiction. But it was done ia a heart-felt and sincere way. I found it one of the most gripping books I've read in a long time.

    GREAT READ!

I bought this to take on my trip to Europe but I could not read it-(Flight TWA 800 disaster-)until I returned safely back to the USA. HA When I finally started it, I could not put it down! John Corey is one of my favorites in a series! He makes me laugh outloud! I got my husband hooked on his books now too. We can hardly wait for Wildfire to come out in Nov ('06) We will probably fuss over who reads it first! HA- I too was not really happy with the ending of Nightfall, and I'm hoping Wildfire will answer some questionable situations. But I would definitely recommend this book if you love a good laugh along with an 'edge of your seat,' 'page-turning,' 'thriller-mystery!' Keep in mind this book is set 5yrs later -after the TWA disaster- in the year 2001. And if you love John Corey, you gotta read Plum Island too! My husband enjoyed Lions Game also.

    Ending is a big disappointment

This book would have deserved a ***** had it ended logically. Alex Demille (son of Nelson, who has recommended the ending) needs to understand what the readers want. I am a big fan of John Corey and his sarcastic humour. But he also must have felt cheated.

    I'm hopeful.....

Loved the book and hope that Mr. DeMille will write a possible sequel that will research WHO got the tape from the hotel safe, did she possibly make it out of the World Trade Center and pick up the tape and disappear??? Could be interesting to see where John Corey's twisted and wonderful mind might look for her and the tape.....just a thought. Love DeMille and all his books! Will be first in line for the next one!

    Real Demille Fan Felt Cheated

I could not put this book down. I love all of Demille's books. My favorite is Gold Coast. This one definately would have been my second favorite had he taken the time to write an ending. The experience for me was like watching the most exciting movie in the world and having the DVD break write before I experienced an ending. Still, I hate to see anyone miss what a terrific story he was building. So read it, but prepare yourself for no resolution in the end.
