Basically I own the whole entire series in paperback and I am looking foward to the rerelease in hardcove, which looks amazing. If you are not familiar with the dark hunters now is a good time to start. Sherrilyn Kenyon is honestly my favorite author of all time and out of the dark hunter series Night Pleasures is probably my favorite because it is the book that started it all. Just keep in mind if you are interested in the dark hunter saga there is a prequel called Fantasy Lover that you might want to read before you read this one. But even if you don't read Fantasy Lover you will still be okay because Night pleasures fills in the gaps. But if you are on the fence about Night Pleasures you will not be disappointed if you get it in fact if you don't get it you will be missing out. Honestly I reccomend Sherrilyn Kenyon's Dark Hunter series to anyone and everyone. Sure It is labeled Romance, but it is so much more than that it's like a whole entire world that you can fall in love with. So basically overall buy Night Pleasures for your library you will be glad you did. Especially since this book introduces you to characters you will love, Kyrian and Amanda, and it also introduces you to an amazing concept that is laced with greek mythology which makes it even better.

I don't think B&N has their series numbers labeled correctly. I went to numerous other websites to get the listings for the Dark-Hunter series. There are atleast 13 books, so I wanted to make sure I had an accurate list so I could read the books in order. B&N says Night Pleasures is the first in the series. All the other sites say it is "Fantasy Lover". B&N does has this book, but it is not numbered at all. I had a hard time reading Night Pleasures, and now I see why. I should have read the other book first. Very frustrating, seeing as how I'm already on the third book.

Idiotic Blend of Pseudo-History, Lame Mythology and Pop References

This has the usual wretched romance novel style with head hoping among other stylistic nits and the usual eye-rolling descriptions of great beauty and flowery euphemisms in the sex scenes--but no worse than most books on the romance aisle--I'd almost come to take that for granted. But gad. First words said to the hero after ogling him by Amanda, the heroine, who had been knocked unconscious and wakes up cuffed to him: "Wake up, yummy leather guy." What really got on my one nerve more than anything else though was the mishmash of Greek and Roman Mythology, pseudo-history and pop references. (Particularly to Buffy--unfortunate because it kept reminding me how much better that show is compared to this crap.) The hero, Kyrian of Thrace, is an immortal "Dark Hunter" with vampiric traits who hunts vampires and demons. Vampires in this world are descendants of the Greek god Apollo. (Apollo???? Hades I'd understand but HUH???) Greek and Roman Gods and Goddesses pop in and out throughout the book. Supposedly, back when he was human, Kyrian almost conquered Rome during the "Fourth Macedonian War." The historical aspects of the novel are ludicrous--most readers probably don't notice or care, but it was one aspect that made the world-building feel sloppy--good authors, like those sold in other parts of the store, do a lot better; this book just serves to underline to me that if you want great genre love stories, you stay out of the romance aisle. Great romantic urban fantasy? Head to the fantasy/science fiction section and get Dime Store Magic by Kelley Armstrong or go to the Young Adult section and pick up Wicked Lovely by Melissa Marr. So, so many fantasies out there with romance that are great reads--knowing that I just couldn't push myself beyond page 100--and I think I was over-generous. Part of the very popular "Dark Hunter" series I won't be reading more of.

    Poor eBook Conversion

I have this as a hardcopy and figured I'd start moving my library to my nook. In theory, good idea. However, when the software used to convert the text to an ebook doesn't work and no one proofreads the file before distributing it, problems are bound to come up. Formatting, spelling, and punctuation are pretty horrible throughout. (EG, another reviewer noted the wife-as-with problem.) Customer service tells me they forwarded my complaint to the publisher, but until it's resolved, I would NOT recommend buying the ebook.

Couldnt get past pg 38, so rediculously horrible

I could only make it through pg 38, this is the first book I have ever thought cheesy enough to give up on. I cant even describe what is wrong with the story other than it was so rediculous I chose to watch MMA with my husband instead of continuing on with this crap. Dont waste your time.
