Amanda is trying to be the “normal” person in a family of crazy. From her sister Selena that runs a psychic booth telling others their fortunes to her twin, Tabitha, who hunts and kills vampires with her boyfriend, her family has always been strange. Amanda tries to stay away from all things paranormal and to just be an average Jane kind of girl. She was recently engaged to Cliff until she finally took him to meet her family. They pulled out all the stops to show him how nuts they could be and he dumped her because of it.
While Tabitha is out on one of her vampire hunts she calls Amanda to ask her to go to her house and let her dog out. Amanda is assaulted when she walks in the door and wakes up in someone’s basement handcuffed to the most handsome man she’s ever seen, Kyrian.
“Tabitha was always trying unorthodox ways to set her up with guys. Although, to be fair to her sister, Tabitha didn’t usually knock the guy unconscious before she forced them together.
Still, with Tabitha there was a first time for just about anything. And extreme blind-dating was very vintage T.”
Kyrian and Amanda are released, but are told that their captor, Desiderius, is giving them until night to come hunting them knowing that Kyrian will do anything to keep her safe even if it costs him his life.
They work together and get freed from one another physically, but end up forming emotional attachments even though it’s against the Dark-Hunter code Kyrian is bound by.
After both Amanda’s and Tabitha’s houses are burned to the ground Kyrian knows he must keep Amanda close to protect her so he takes her to his house where they grow even closer. But Kyrian knows that nothing can ever come of it because he has no soul and most Dark-Hunters that try to regain their souls end up dying as they have to trust their loved ones to protect it. And after being betrayed by the one woman he ever trusted makes trusting anyone with something so important impossible.
Desiderius is Kyrian’s most dangerous target yet. He uses Kyrian’s painful memories against him to hurt him where it counts and now he has a new weapon to use—Amanda. Not to mention the prophecy from the Oracles says that only the Dark-Hunter with a soul can defeat him. But Kyrian must do whatever it takes to protect Amanda even if it means he will die in the process.
I was amazed with how much I enjoyed this book after reading the two prequels before it as I didn’t really care for the first one, Fantasy Lover, at all. Although I loved seeing the characters from it reemerge in this novel…there is something about Julian that you can’t help, but like. And I enjoyed seeing how they connected Amanda to that story being Grace’s friend’s sister. And I don’t think I would have gotten as much out of them being in the story if I hadn’t read Fantasy Lover. This book really made me glad I continued the series.
I loved Kyrian and seeing how he was betrayed and tortured in the past was heartbreaking. Then, seeing Desiderius using that pain and making him relive it all made me want to stake him myself. It made me that much happier to see Amanda return his power to love to him along with his soul, even though I expected that from the beginning.

Amanda's world gets turned upside down when she goes to let her
Amanda's world gets turned upside down when she goes to let her sister's dog out, gets mistaken for her twin sister and is attacked and wakes up handcuffed to a strange guy. It turns out that the guy attached to her is not only an immortal but a dark hunter who is pretty much the protector for humans from all things that go bump in the night.

Kyrian was turned into a dark hunter when his wife betrayed him to the Romans and he was brutally crucified. Now he is subjected to live an eternity in darkness protecting humans from what we would call vampires. Due to the betrayal from his wife, he has build a barrier up around himself but it all comes crashing down when he wakes up to find Amanda handcuffed to him.
Amanda comes from a strange family. They all have special powers, some psychic, telepathic, even her twin sister is a daimon hunter. All she wants is a normal life and she is hell bent on staying out of the craziness but it all blows up in her face when a case of mistaken identity throws her front and center into paranormal overload.
A friend of mine recommended this book to me and once I was assured that there was romance in it, I went to the library and snatched it up. It a took a little bit for me to get my bearings when I started this since I didn't read the previous book but since I read a lot of paranormal books, it didn't take me that long to catch up. I liked the chemistry between the two characters but I must admit that I absolutely loved the beginning but then it started to die out for me. However, it held my interest during the entire book and before I knew it, I was finished. -
Just ok for me....
This book was just ok for me. I understand that you have to have a certain amount of series building in a #1 of a series which probably is the reason a lot of the readers didn't finish it. Like other reviewers stated, this e-book does have grammatical, wrong words used etc. errors. All & all, I don't regret buying it and look forward to the next book.

Much better than expected
I read the reviews before I read the book and I got to say that was a mistake cause this book is good. I realized only now rereading the most popular negative review that buy her own admission she didn't even read it all. I just want to say if you didn't read the whole book don't write a review. The story is a good one the characters are well written given their personality types and after it was explained it makes perfect scents why Apollo is the creator. Jeez. The only reason I gave this 4 out of 5 was cause for one a I'm I only give 5 stars to the books I plan on keeping and although it was good I don't see myself rereading it often enough to keep it.

Greek Myth Comes to Life
Kenyon's Dark Hunter series is truly unique. It's a fast-paced blend of action, humor and romance, where the plot never takes a back-seat to the HEA.

A Charming story
Another story by Sherrilyn Kenyon, another lonely, tormented, gorgeous man in need of love. Though this is the second Dark Hunter novel, it is the first time we meet an actual dark hunter. Enter Kyrian of Thrace, a spartan warrior wronged by who he trusted most, now an immortal piece of eye candy dedicated to hunting the evil that preys on us mere mortals in the night. At the start of this book, I was worried that there would be no comparison to the characters in Kenyon's first book, Fantasy Lover. I had truly grown attached to Julian and Gracie, but the story of Kyrian of Thrace and Amanda Devereaux did not disappoint, not to mention the appearance of both Julian and Gracie in various quips through the book. The basic story line is the same, sexually charged tormented hunk of eye candy needs love, enter uptight modern day woman who needs some old fashion loving to make her life complete, throw in some bad guys trying to hurt the innocent, mix well and there's your plot. At least this plot is meatier than the plot in Fantasy Lover, and we get introduced to the dark hunter characters of Talon and the famous Acheron, not to mention the lovable and funny squire Nick Gautier. This book is great for anyone that loves a dash of vampire in their romance novel. A yes in the to be read pile.

Sweet setup to the series
So, I've been with this series since the beginning but I have to rewrite my reviews since they updated the page. Anyway, we have Amanda Deveraux, an accountant from a long line of strange family members, who likes her life neat and tidy... until she ends up handcuffed to a hot stud who calls himself Hunter. In actuality, this man is Kyrian of Thrace, an ex-Greek general who has been made into a Dark-Hunter, one of thousands of immortal men and women who hunt the former beloved people of Apollo, called Daimons. Well, Kyrian has some bad blood flowing between himself and one Daimon named Desiderius, and Des is determined to hurt everything Kyrian holds dear: Amanda. There's a million pieces of information that are packed into this book, so it's better if you read that and try to digest it all. One perk is Acheron, the Dark-Hunter leader. That man is sin in leather pants, but don't let that fool you-- he's deadly and off limits, for now at least. Anyway, this is a great read if you want some escapism, filled with tortured heroes who want love but don't want it-- understand?-- and women who feel sorry for them but love them anyway. Toss in some evil baddies and some past horrible tragedy and you have NP.

An Entertaining Read
After enjoying Fantasy Lover, I read Night Pleasures, the sequel. I really enjoyed it. This story is different than many in its genre. Beware though! Sometimes lines come off as slightly corny. And as I found in the first novel, this story also solved some problems a little too quickly. Some huge obstacles/ problems were solves in a matter of 1 or 2 sentences. Anyways, its still entertaining, and as one of the other fan's excited about hearing Talon's story, I can't wait to hear Ash's story.
