Heartbreaking, wonderfully written
Heartbreaking story that I could not put down. Lots of details are in this book that have not been released elsewhere. I wish I could have adopted little Carmina to give her all the love she deserves!

Sad
Good book full of a long series of abuses. I had hoped the end would show some sign or some hope that she is on her own two feet, but it left a taste of her as still expecting her life to just be suddenly better as if she were owed it because of the bad things she had endured. Sadly she still seems to be using her past as her ticket to unearned rewards. I hope by now she has found steady work and can build a sense of self, an identity based on what she does with her life rather than on what was done to her.

A MUST READ - Rampage to Peaceful Spirit
I think Sonoma County residence will remember this case and this book tells the details of what happened to a little girl who said: " My daddy cut me." I was close to this case but read the book and read about my friends who were involved in this case and may still be until Ramon Salcido crosses over.As for Carmina, I hope that by writing this book gives her some closure but we all know, this event will stay with her for the rest of her life. She will be a stronger person because of it. I hope all is well will be with her and she will go forward with her life.

Amazing true story - a must read.
This book caught my eye the moment I saw it. I bought it and sat up half the night reading it. I had finished it in 24 hours and have been thinking about it ever since. I actually plan to re-read it soon. The things that happened in this carefully told true story are horrifying and unforgettable, but it is told in a way that is careful, sensitive, thoughtful, and compassionate. You can't help but be caught up in the story or caring deeply for the little girl who survived, or proud of the strong, beautiful young woman who emerged from a terrible darkness.
