Even when you disagree with Adam Carolla, you have to concede that he has a point. This is no hyper-edited glossy celeb bio. This is an angry ranting middle-aged white dude with a beautiful sense of irony, often a crude sense of humor, and a way of looking at things that makes a reader think and laugh.
Adam's humor is often self-deprecating, but he doesn't mind bringing down anyone and everyone a notch or two. This has occasionally made those who don't understand his humor or irony think that he's racist or bigoted. He makes many cracks about women that used to irritate me until I'd catch myself doing the very thing he'd yelled about...and realized he's right.

If you like the book, I recommend that you also get the audiobook, as Adam eschews the traditional format and starts ranting tangents that are not in the book. It's the audiobook version of a director's cut and is worth every penny. I'm only 2 hours in and already there's a bunch of material not in the ebook!

This book is a perfect example of what happens when someone loses their edge. Put me to sleep. But after The Hammer, I suppose this was to be expected.

Read it, don't listen to it.

I'm a big fan of Adam Carolla and listen to his podcasts daily. When I was reading NTBM, I could hear his voice in my head as if it was one long podcast. Alternatively, I listened to a sample of the audiobook version and while I realize he was reading it, it didn't sound as authentic as it did when I imagined his voice in my head. The book is very funny and genuine, so much so that I immediately bought his first book.

Not as good as his first book

I thought his first book was so funny! Laugh out loud funny, this one, not at all! Unless you went to high school with Ace save your money! Too many personal stories, a let down from his first book:(

    Awesome and funny book

I listen to the ACE man's podcast and this is the first book I read by him. He lived a very interesting life that is ridiculously funny. I couldn't stop reading it. It's a great story of how he went from nothing to what he is today. His views on modern day society are funny, true, and thought-provoking. A great read for the adult reader. I gave copies to my friends and told them to read it to see what a real man was.
