A Must Read For Baseball Fans

Well thought out, funny, and an easy read with hysterical 'footnotes.' This book captures the passion for the game--and what it means to be a true fan of YOUR team. And, for what it's worth, the correct spelling is 'nobodies' Mo Vaughn spelled his name with an 'n'.

Simmons really cheaped out on this one.

Im a Bill Simmons fan, and I have enjoyed him since his AOL days and will continue to do so. That said. This book isnt funny, its not. Simmons articles are funny but do you really want to read about 70 of them back to back to back...yeah he livens them up a little with his footnotes, and it just isnt enough. I'm wondering if Simmons was looking to make a quick buck with this book because isnt very original or would I imagine hard to copy his articles into the book. I hope Bill conitunes to shine on ESPN.com as I eagerly await his next book.

A great read for everybody....

except perhaps bitter Yankee fans. I live in Los Angeles and have no allegances to either Boston or New York in fact, I'm not even that big of baseball fan. I have been reading Bill Simmons's columns for several years and he is by far one of the, if not the, best sportswriter out there. His knowledge is amazing and his wit is outstanding. I would recommend this book to anyone for an enjoyable look at the life of a Red Sox fan. Yankees fans need not apply....

Brilliant Writing

The SportsGuy's columns have, for years, hit the nail right on the head when it comes to Boston sports. This book is no different. It's a must-read.

now if the previous poster knew something about the author he would have realized hes not on the bandwagon, hes actually a brilliant writer from new england who writes almost daily for espn.com. secondly if the previous poster knew something about baseball he'd realize that success is success, the only thing you can do is tip your cap to the champions on second thought hes probably a yankees fan so what does he know anyway. get this book its fantastic even if you dont like the red sox.

Yankee fans are bitter little men

The Sports Guy is funny, insightful and has lived and died with Boston sports all his life. After last year's biggest choke job since Momma Cass Elliott, the Yankees needed to spend as much on their pitching staff as NASA did on the lunar space module. This is a great read.

Ddi you win the East after leading by 5 games?

You're a wild card team...again. Normally teams who have won the wild card and the world series don't make the post season the next season...so you got lucky there. And why must every dumb, half-witted person, celeb or non celeb who have jumped on this team's bandwagon write a book about the 2004 season. Get a life. You are nododys. My excriments look better then what is on Trot Nixon's helmet. And one more thing, Ortiz is another Mo vaugh. He'll be out of baseball in a few years and his numbers will decline. LOSERS!
