An Unexpected Literary Treat
This was a unique paranormal tale with so many twists and turns, sub-plots, and fantastic characters. The book was written in first person point of view, which gave Carly, the main character, a fresh voice to tell her story. It was easy to experience the highs and lows of Carly's life. Throughout the story, she experiences the death of a loved one, ghosts, birth of grandbabies, heartbreak, newfound freedom and an exciting new job. I actually shivered when the scary moments came along and I jumped for joy for Carly when good things happened for her. I was held to the pages with deep anxiety wanting to know what happens next (that's a good thing). In this tale of a woman in her fifties, I never did guess the ending - another good thing. I hate it when I guess the ending during the first few chapters of a book. Charmaine Gordon, the author, did a wonderful job.
