    Buy this book

This book is true. It is unsentimental and gives a glimpse into the life of a humble, intelligent and courageous young man and his family. Excellent in every way.

Buy this Book! Read it, too!

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. The story is heartfelt and vivid. The message is important and inspirational. I've also had the privilege of knowing the author, and he is a sincere, wonderful person.

This book will remind you how easy you've got it!

Like the other review said, Mawi's story isn't necessarily unique. But what is unique is how he and his family dealt with what was given (and taken) from them. He's not a trained, professional writer, which makes the book a pleasant read, almost like he's sitting there telling you his story. I've had the pleasure of knowing the entire Asgedom family since they arrived in the U.S. and they are wonderful, Godly people. Wishing them all the success that they deserve!

Great storyline, could've done more though...

This is a good book, but Mawi's story, as incredible as it is, is not so different than that of many Eritrean and Ethiopian refugees of war; in fact, he was far more fortunate that many of them. He could've been more vivid with descriptions and elaborated on his living relatives (the women of the family). But is was still a good book and informative to those ignorant of the struggle of immigrating to a new country.
