    To Your Health!

The title says it all! It wants you to think healthy when you bake and instead of shortening, margarine and butter choose olive oil. Here is the perfect gift for both the experienced and novice baker. My husband's favorite dish is Apple Crisp so he decided to try the Dairy-free Vegan recipe 'p.17' and found it easy with a delicious result. However, if you have your own special recipe the Appendix gives you directions how to convert. Each recipe is introduced with a comment such as the one for Apple Butter Muffins where Sheldon suggests to invite the children into kitchen duties they are great in putting paper liners in a muffin pan or stirring, she says, and both her daughters learned fractions at her elbow in the kitchen. Cooking is an excellent way to teach math and science! 'p.113' The layout of the recipes is clear and inviting, one recipe to a page. Dairy-free recipes are explicitly marked both on the page and in the Index. Altogether a useful, healthy and fun book. Can't wait to try the Chocolate Peppermint Bark 'p.144' which Sheldon says is the 'ideal gift or treat for the holiday season' and I might add together with a copy of the book.
