A joy from cover to cover, picture to picture, word to word
This has been among our favorite books for years, over two children and dozens (maybe hundreds) of readings. We just assumed it was some sort of well known classic. Yet there are only two reviews here as of Jan 2012, and the book seems unrecognized and a bit obscure.
Well it should be a classic! Each sentence is highly crafted: there is nothing extra nothing left out. The story is sweet and real and accessible, and a great launching off point for discussions with a child about getting lost, getting scared, and what to do.
