Bad translation
Don't bother getting this abridged (also read butchered) version of Clausewitz' classic philosopy of war. If you want to know what Clausewitz was thinking, get a full translation. The editor may be right in calling some of the chapters outdated, for example the chapters on rivers or mountain warfare, but in every chapter he gives some useful tidbit of knowledge which applies in all times. The editor also inserted a lengthy introduction basically saying that Clausewitz' philosophy is bad when applied to modern times, showing his complete ignorance of what Clausewitz meant. Save your money for a full translation like The Everyman's Library edition by Peter Paret.

Von Clausewitz
Got this to update my library. An essential read to understand the history and politics of war.
