    Well written and interesting

Very well written book of Nat's rowing trip around the eastern half of the country. He's a very thoughtful person, and makes observations that make you think. He does interact with people on his trip, but those encounters are not written about with the detail that make you feel you are there. Consequently I don't feel I have 'met' any of the other characters. Also, though he has a few mishaps and adventures, most of his days are spent....rowing (as you would expect). While I have no problem with this, and it gives him ample time to muse over various topics, this isn't an exciting book. But it is very well written and won't disappoint. It will surely make you jealous of the life he discovered, where time does not matter, there are no appointments and he is at peace.

    Wonderful adventure book

How refreshing to read an adventure book that was not centered around some tragedy or someone's personnal problem. Nat Stone has written a wonderful book describing his rowing trip around the 'eastern island' of the United States and the interesting people he meets along the way. He does it because he just wants to. He not trying to prove anything. He has no big corporate sponsorship and is on a shoestring budget. I especially enjoyed the portion of the trip down the Mississippi River. He meets some very interesting people and has some very interesting experiences along the way. It was a book where I was actually wanting to know more about the people he met and other things he experienced along the way.

Great Summer Read for the Beach

I loved reading about all of the backwater towns and people that the author met along the way. A great story for those that dream about nights spent under the stars, and days spent on the water
