Ideas Without Structure
I'm a big fan of metaphysical books and spiritual tomes in general. So I was excited to learn of this book from friends who recommended it highly. I was sorely disappointed. Although the ideas presented here are intriguing, Bach fails to create a cohesive story. As any fan of fantasy or science fiction knows, even the most outrageous story must have some believability. Here, Bach's characters behave according to the needs of the 'plot' rather than as real human beings. As Bach and his wife travel through parallel dimensions, they drop in on their 'alternate' selves. Rather than be shocked or awestruck, these alternate selves simply accept that travelers from another dimension are stopping in to say 'hi'. I give this book two stars on the basis of the themes and ideas presented here, but perhaps the theme would have been better served as an essay or nonfiction guide rather than a half-baked novel. Was this review helpful? I think I read this book at exactly the right moment in my life. It was when I was ready and when I needed this type of inpiration and insight the most. It was a time in my life when I felt like things were going downhill faster than an avalanche. It was this choice I made to read this book that changed my life. Because I read this book, I am much more fully aware of what I do and how it might affect my life as well as those of others in the long run. Thanks to this book, I am much more mindful and aware of my life and feel like I am 'living' in the fullest sense of the word! Another book I really like now is 'The Ever-Transcending Spirit' by Toru Sato. It is a theoretical book on human nature and consciousness in general but it is truly inspiring! I am absolutely sure that my life would not be the same without these books. Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
