Coco Barrington, a law school dropout and dog walker, lives in a simple beach cottage in California and is trying to make the best of her life. But she knows she's a big disappointment to her legendary Hollywood family--her mother, a best-selling romance author, who is having an affair with a man half her age, and her movie producer sister Jane, who has been in a loving relationship with her partner Liz for over 10 years. Coco knows her relatives consider her a failure, but while resenting it she also feels there's nothing she can do about it. Then her sister Jane, who's expecting a baby, asks her to housesit while she and Liz go East on business. Coco reluctantly agrees and finds more than she bargained for in the person of a handsome British movie star, Leslie Baxter, who's also staying at the house while hiding from his crazy ex-girlfriend. They fall in love almost instantly and Coco contemplates a whole new life, until she's faced with the price of Leslie's fame by the unrelenting paparazzi who won't leave them alone. She drops him for a while but after coming to a new understanding of her mother's vulnerability, and her sister's bravery in facing motherhood, lifestyles that are different than her own but certainly worthwhile, Coco realizes her love for Leslie is strong enough to triumphant over any obstacles and they get back together. It also helps that her family now recognizes her good points. This is another great read from Danielle Steele who always writes with wit and understanding and lots of sexy fun. Hard to put down. There's a reason why Danielle Steel's been around forever...she's that good.

Disappointing

I have read Danielle Steele in the past and don't recall every being this disappointed. This story could have been told in 200 pages. Redundant and then the ending was so quick.

    What A Story!

Becoming involved into this story was probably on of the easiest books yet!
The first page will tug at your curiosity and keep you wanting to read further. She has a way of keeping you turning the pages for finding answers to your questions about whom did what or who is going to find out the big secret! Danielle is a fantastic writer and this book kept me so involved that I couldn't put it down.
The family is as another current family in today's society which deals with similar situations. The age differences, the gay relationship and the love story is so compelling that you have to wonder why anyone couldn't accept this situation as a family of today.
The age difference of her mother's lover is no different than in today's society but when actually reading it,it makes you wake up and realize how real love is possible regardless of the age. They say that age is a number, which in this case isn't important but it leaves you wondering what brought them together, the money or fame or is it true love?
The heartbreaks, the renewed love, the child who brings all the couples closer, what more could you ask for?
She ended the story with a possibility to continue this love story, which I hope she does.
Danielle writes all love stories but this is so connected to the families of today so maybe some can relate and connect to this story and learn what life has to offer.
I would buy this book for an easy read or for a boring day but once you start, you won't be able to put it down.
Take a day that you can make the time to read, this will keep you thirsting for more.Regardless of what you select to read, start with a book by Danielle, she will teach you about the different levels of real love!
