A good listen-to story for children ages 4-8 on the parable of Luke 15:3-4. Easy enough for beginner readers, too. I like the story’s flow with a bit of rhyme and rhythm. The illustrations are soft and fuzzy looking (like a woolly sheep) with attention-keeping details such as cute emotions on the little sheep faces.
The point of the parable – God cares for you. He is earnest in bringing the “lost sheep” i.e., sinners, back to Him. He saves us and our redemption brings great joy.

This was a pleasant little read! It had super cute pictures with an accurate Biblical retelling of the Lost Sheep Parable by Jesus! Was this review helpful? Yes NoThank you for your feedback. Report this reviewThank you, this review has been flagged.
The way the author retold this parable for a child was great! I love the rhymes, the counting, and noises that were excellently weaved throughout this short little book! I also liked how at the end how Rhonda includes how God is our shepherd to make the story personal to young ones lives!
The illustrations were good! I don't think my son liked them as much since he didn't seem very enthusiastic about the pictures (well except the dog)! I think he was most excited about the dog and looked for him on every page! I also liked how the illustrator gave the lost sheep expressions of happiness and sadness!
Overall, this is a great story to use to teach children between the ages of 4-8 of the lost sheep parable! The rhymes are catchy and engaging as well as the pictures help bring the story to life!
I give One Lost Sheep a 4 out of 5 stars!

I have thoroughly enjoyed reading through One Lost Sheep tonight. As you might guess, the story is a retelling of the parable about the shepherd who loses one sheep and goes after it, bringing it back to join the remaining 99. Throughout this story, the shepherd is looking all over the place, in awkward places, and everywhere, for that one lost sheep. The joy he feels when he finally finds that lost sheep is nothing less than ecstatic. The moral of this story, as is that of the parable Jesus told, is that God loves his children and watches over them.
This is a beautifully illustrated book. Children from ages 4-8 will love it, but so will mommies and daddies, and other people in your child's life.

Firefly(almost 3) completely fell in love with this book! When it first arrived, I read it to him 3 times in a row before I had to cut him off. ;) The illustrations are precious, and we all loved the rhyming flow of the words.
The story is based on the parable in Luke 15: 3-4.
"Now shepherd counts
One lost sheep,
he must find!
up mountains, steep.
Where, oh where, is that lost sheep?"
I think I can officially proclaim this as one of our favorites!
