    Really Fun Book

I love this one. It's not that the ideas are revolutionary, but it's wonderful to have so many ideas in one place. It's the perfect thing to use if you have a small piece of fabric, some time, and just want to make something *now*!

Misleading pictures, inaccurate patterns, terrible directions

This book is terribly disappointing. So far I have tried 3 projects and each of them have had at least one problem.

Ballet-neck dress: The hole for the neck casing ends up being too low and I had to make a new hole at the top.
Folklore Bag: The top band is wider than the bag base(lining), so they do not fit together properly. The band has to be made smaller. The bag turns out smaller than the picture makes it look.
Flouncy Bag: The lining does not fit the base. It should have been made wider than the base in order to fit after the side seams were done. Also it is MUCH smaller than the picture makes it look.

There are 2 other BIG problems with this book.
First, the directions are not very good. There is a lot of guess work involved because things are not stated clearly.
Second, the pictures are VERY misleading. Both bags look very large in the pictures, but are in fact quite small. They look like large totes. The folklore bag must have been photographed on a child size chair, or they made it bigger for the pictures. I am certain the flouncy bag was made larger for the pictures, because the proportions are entirely different.

I wonder if any of these patterns were even tested. So far I have had nothing but problems and disappointment with this book. I have done quite a bit of sewing, so I have been able to make adjustments to the projects I have done, but have still been mostly disappointed by the finished products (the dress did end up being cute). I doubt that a beginner would have much luck at all.

    other than found mistakes...

Watch out, read carefully, use common sense, have plenty of extra materials just in case. The yoga bag has a huge misprint. The circle is NOT to be 16.5 inches in diameter, but 6.5 inches. Found this out by trial and error until, using my rusty math skills and several newspaper cutouts as an experiment, discovered the real measurement and the misprint of adding a 1 in front of the number. The construction directions would very difficult for someone without much sewing experience, I think. Wonder what else needs such additional attention to make?

A perfect resource for helping you use up your stash of fabric.

A lot of interesting projects. Great designs. I've already made one of the projects and the instructions were easy to follow with the help of useful illustrations.

    One Yard Wonders

Though there are many projects in this book that can be found elsewhere, it is nice to have all of them in one place. Great stash-buster projects. My one complaint is that there is no need for another apron pattern - I think that we've seen enough of these! Great ideas for gift-giving

Exactly what the title says, "One-Yard Wonders". This book is about creating and sewing projects with one yard of fabric. The book is divided into 11 chapters: Sewing Fundamentals, Dwell Redux, Household Affairs, Craft Organization, On the Go, From Head to Toe, Carry it All, Outfit your Small Wonder, Accessorize your Little One, Playtime and your Furry Friends. There is also an envelope included with pattern pieces, a glossary, resources and applique pieces section. Did I mention the the book is spiral bound? I just love when a craft book goes above and beyond and makes my life easier by laying flat. This book truly includes it all.

There is so much in this book I want to sew and give as gifts. There is so much in this book I want to sew and keep. How many times have you gone into a fabric store and shopped the remnants for bargains or what about those left over fabric yards from other jobs? Not only do you save money with these projects only using one yard but it opens up a whole new world for all those left over fabric scraps.

They say that the best reviews are short and sweet. That after about 200 words people lose interest. So let me get to the point. Buy this book for the following reasons and you will not be disappointed: the projects come with easy to follow instructions, the projects are fast to complete, the projects are simple, the projects will save you money on materials, the projects make fantastic gifts (and keepsakes), there is a project for just about anyone included in this book. Buy this book.

Projects of note that I can't wait to complete: Clothespin Apron (pg. 51), Origami Organizer (pg. 88), Toddler Pinafore Smock Top (pg. 188), Toddler Art Smock (pg. 214), Dog Walking Coat (pg. 272), Feline-Friendly Tepee (pg. 276). There are over 100 other items to choose from. What will you be sewing?

    Great Project Ideas

This is a really great book. The instructions are easy to understand and the diagrams are very helpful. I'm a beginner and though my projects didn't look exactly like the book's picture, I was able to have some fun creating really neat projects.
