    Best book I've ever read!

I use this book in my class "Race In America." Without fail it is my student's favorite book. As college students they are dismayed that they have never heard of this "TRUE AMERICAN HERO."

Everyone should read this book and learn about this icon of the civil rights, poor people's rights, women's rights, and human rights movement! If you are living and breathing in America right now, Ms. Height undoubtedly did something to improve your life.

She is my personal hero. She is a hero, role model, and grandmother figure to my students at St. Cloud State University. Because of her example, my students have been actively working to dismantle racism and discrimination on the campus!

This is a must read for every human being! It will change your life!

A learning experience beyond a book

I am part of the class referred to in the other reviews, and I agree that this is fantastic book. It's very inspiring, and we are really putting this inspiration to use in our response to a racist act on campus.

Great book!!! Why would anyone make hatefull racism comment????

I enjoyed reading Open Wide the Freedom Gates in Race in America class with Prof. Lehman. I shocked while reading the book, but the most that upset students on campus was the comment that made on the class project on the wall in one of the building. It hurts to that people still have that hatred for people of color, knowing it's the 21st century. It change the University reptation. There are so many people of color that goes to
St.Cloud State University, but some white still have the disagreement of diverse. We just to hope one day that everyone's heart will be clear of the hatred. I don't think any discrimination will take anyone anywhere in this world, especially this period of time. I just hope that Dorothy will take her precious time and speak upon this racism comment that was made. We also hope for another book that inspired many people.

    Thank You,God bless you!!!
